Thanks Tulare…she is OOS…and I’m not kidding myself - I know it worked in her favor. Can’t argue with that out of state tuition! I am thrilled for her though. We’ve (mostly me) have been worried because of the budget cuts in California and reduced enrollment at our CSUs. She would have been a shoe in at most of them a couple of years ago. We visited Oregon in the spring and she really loved it. I loved it…I would have loved to have gone to school there!

Thanks also for the housing advice. She sent in her housing application on Nov 2. Trying not to leave anything to chance!

Yeah…it’s a relief, especially with a kid who is anxious by nature!

gaychia… good on ya… a couple of questions… for your sat, was the score out of 2400 or 1600 and was your gpa weighted ? … as well, what part of the country, and will you accept admission and go to oregon ? … we loved the place and my son is on the program if they admit… although… New Hampshire beckons…

gaychia, I’m an Oregon alum who is pretty active in the university now (almost 25 years after graduating) and I cannot say enough good things about it. Your daughter will love it, and you have every reason to be thrilled for her. Like you, I’m a Californian with a freshman daughter in college who also went out of state in part due to the state of our system here. I think you and your daughter have made a great decision and I wish her all the best.

We are from California. SAT was based on the 2400 scale (her scores were not great - she has severe test anxiety) GPA is unweighted. I am really thrilled for her because her stats really don’t reveal how very hard she works. I will be forever grateful to the adcom for giving her this opportunity!

Thanks for the reply… no word yet from NHamp…he’s also looking at Clarkson, Miami/ohio and Vermont… although Oregon is his fave… we’re in the waiting mode

My daughter was a transfer student. I’m not sure, but unless you’re applying to the honors college, I don’t think extra-curriculars are a big factor in admissions. I really don’t think you have to worry about that.

There are some course requirements which are basically college composition and math at a college level. (Remedial math classes won’t count toward this requirement.) And check the link Tulare provided for any other requirements.

Seems to me you’ll do just fine!

Hey, it’s a fun time to be a Duck right now, especially if you’re a football fan. My daughter, who is not a football fan, is just trying to weather the storm of excitement that’s swirling around her. ;)
