Chances of Stanford and Wharton ruined by my scores?

SAT:
1st time: 2170 (can't remember subscores)
2nd time: 2300 (750 CR, 770 M, 780 W)

SAT II:
1st time: Math II (680), Lit (680), US History (680)
2nd time: Math II (800), and still waiting to hear back about my lit test (didn't retake US History)

ACT:
1st time: 33 (35 E, 30 M, 36 R, 32 S, 32 E/W)
2nd time: 31 (34 E, 32 M, 31 R, 27 S, 33 E/W)

So, I sent both SAT scores to Stanford, only my 2nd Math II score (and plan on sending lit if it improves from last time, which hopefully it will), and both ACT Scores

For Wharton, they don't participate in score choice for ANYTHING (including SAT II) - so I sent both SAT scores, and ALL of my subject test scores :( Since I did considerably worse the second time for ACT, I decided not to send those at all (and just erase ACT scores from Common App for that school).

How much did my first subject test scores hurt my chances for Wharton? There is clear improvement in Math II, and there will hopefully be improvement in Lit, but I didn't take US History again. How bad does that look?

And for Stanford, how much did it hurt my chances by doing worse the second time on ACT?

Just for the record, EC's are pretty good - lots of dedication to theatre/drama and plenty of leadership)

As long as you have above a 650 in your SAT IIs at Ivies they won’t really harm you that much. Above 700 is preferred, but I don’t think they really care a whole lot about just those scores.

Both schools do ultimately look at your best scores. Although Penn wants all of your testing history, they will eventually throw out the worst of the scores and focus on your superscore. Just don’t worry about it.

Cool thanks. Good luck to you!

No problem! Good luck to you too!

Yeah they specifically say that they also look at your highest sub scores. Therefore, in my book that means superscoring. Don’t worry. At the level of those schools, they care more about your essays and EC’s than your test scores because everyone is qualified. Your 2300 on the SAT will be great, and so is your 800 on the SATII. For upenn, are you sure that they don’t do score choice for their SAT subjects? I was under the impression that they do. Btw, colleges can’t see that you have done score choice or not. There was a whole forum on it, and I can’t find it, but I specifically remember that it all comes down to the integrity of the student.

I was searching all night for answers on whether or not they allow score choice for SAT II’s (for penn), and all I could find was that they expect ALL testing history. I was too chicken to hide it from them, so, I sent them :frowning: But I feel like improvement in Math II and hopefully Lit will make those old scores okay. Also, I got a 4 on APUSH test, so hopefully that’ll help too?

But thank you so much for replying! I think if I just highlight business/ leadership experience in my EC’s/essays for Wharton, then I have a shot.

Penn only asks for 2 SAT IIs but all testing history. They meant they want all your SAT Is.

Right, so I was looking at the transfer applicant page for Penn (i’m not transfer), and there it said that applicants can use score choice for subject tests. It is basically the same article for freshman applicants, cut and pasted, except they added that statement in the transfer applicant page. They didn’t put that in freshman page, which led me to believe that score choice for subject tests wasn’t an option. Unfortunately, there’s nothing I can really do about it now since I sent them in last night :(

I’d be more worried about ECs for those schools…

Yup EC’s are much more important than some multiple choice tests. Just be glad that you improved. Colleges like that. I got a 660 on my first test for math lvl 2(nose bled during the test, really bad test day) and the I got 770 on my second try. Everyone has bad test days. Don’t worry and focus on the rest of your apps :)
