I am a starting sophomore at UT Tyler, currently undecided major (deciding between biology and statistics) and doing pre-med. I had a 4.0 GPA first semester, where I tried to transfer to Rice, which I did not get in. This semester, however, I fell to a 3.8 cumulative GPA, in exchange for a bunch of EC's. I got all A's except three B's (General biology II, the lab, and economics, I had around 88 and 89 for all those classes and the teachers don't bump.) that felled my GPA. The bunch of EC's were fairly prestigious like biology research, internships, shadowing, tennis club etc. How is Rice going to view me when I apply as a transfer for my junior year? Will they look down at my three B's in one semester and therefore kill my chances, even though my GPA is still fairly high and will most likely go up during my sophomore year? i have 32 hours under my belt right now.

My high school record, which I don't know still factors in, is not that great. I had a 3.2 GPA, 1800 SAT, and not a lot of EC's. That's as much as i can really say about my hs, i was a lazy bum who did not care.

Any opinions and observations?
