chances of transfering below a 3.0 gpa

Can anyone here help me out?

I’m a CC student with a 3.0 gpa, and I am a nursing major. I’m going to be transferring in the fall of 2012, so I have more time to raise my gpa.
Do any of guy’s think I have a shot at transferring to a CSU or UC?

Statfinder= worthless. Trust me I went through the acceptance cycle last year and here I am again because obviously I didnt get in.

UCSD does not do a comprehensive review…they look at your gpa and units and thats it. Last year if you had over 60 units and over a 3.3 you got in…and unless you had TAG you got denied if you fell short (even a 3.29999). It MIGHT have been a 3.2, as I dont remember completely but if you dont have TAG you wont get in with anything less than ATLEAST a 3.2, probably a 3.3. How do I know? spoke with multiple people at UCSD. Major DOES NOT matter and they refuse letters of recc or anything. GPA and units is all.

My gpa is right around a 3.2 this year, and I fully expect that if my TAG falls through I will not get into UCSD and will have to look at UCI (since there shouldnt be any problems with TAG at UCI)

I dont mean to be mean I just dont want people getting their hopes up like I did. Its a numbers game at UCSD they are too lazy to look any deeper than gpa/units.

If you could transfer to UCR or UCSC as a Physics major you should consider yourself fortunate. Although the overall reputation of those schools in the UC system is not good, nationally, both are very highly regarded in Physics and Astronomy. The 2.9 GPA is not going to hurt you nearly as much as the F in a math class. If you can, you should try to retake that course and get the F replaced with a grade of at least a C and preferably a B or an A.

yeah and if you cant use “since” properly in sentence, good luck with upper division english. let alone the higher math you did poorly in which sounds like precalculus/trig if it wasn’t calculus.

from my understanding of physics, it’s fundamentally based on mathematics. So if you’re not very good/terrible at math, you’ll probably have a hard time with physics.

my statistics professor took a class on einstein’s physics and he said that four different chalk boards were filled with one huge equation. If you’re terrible at math, you might be in the wrong major. If you’re good at math but just lazy, get serious and start getting good grades in your classes.

My boyfriend was accepted to UCR with a 2.5 GPA. However, he had terrible grades early on, when he was 18-20 but showed great academic improvement at a community college later on (7 years later to be exact) with a 4.0.
So anyway, he did transfer with a low GPA but he also showed great academic improvements, not to mention, he transferred in linguistics.

Hey guys, I’m a CCC transfer student I want to transfer to UCI or UCSB or UCSD
I applied out last fall with a 3.0 I am a philosophy major and I didn’t get into any schools but I got waitlisted to UCI and they ended up rejecting me. I think I got waitlisted because I had all the philosphy prerequisites done. So I’m applying out again this fall but now my gpa is a 2.9 and but I have the honors programm this time, I didn’t have that last time I’m applied. I also have 4 W’s I feel like my transcript is such a mess. My mistake was taking hard dental school prereqs at the same time as all my other classes because I was trying to get things done fast, but I ended up with too many C’s so my gpa is low.
What do you think of my chances of getting into UC’s?
Id die to go to UCLA but that is clearly not an option so i was hoping maybe this time around UCI would let me in? Is there any advice you have for my application
I’m really dissappointed, this was not how it was supposed to play out. Anything would be great! Thanks for reading :)

I know people get into UC’s with under 3.0’s, I just don’t know about UCI. Depends if the major is impacted as well.

Average GPA for transfer Fall 2011 was 3.43.
