Chances of Transferring to UofMinnesota

Forgot to mention I want to transfer to liberal arts college

I am currently a 1st year student attending the University of South Dakota for the 2012 Fall Semester, and just recently graduated high school in May. However, I made the mistake of not letting myself do what I wanted because I was afraid to move too far from home and my family. I sincerely regret doing this and didn't apply to UofM, out of high school and would like to fully commit to it.

I currently hold 9 credits at my current University through AP Classes taken in high school, (AP American History, Government, and English Lang) which would easily transfer to 12 credits over at the U based on their AP policy. I am also taking 16 credits this year 10 of which are directly related to my Major Political Science and Minor Economics. The other 6 are general credits in Speech and Communications and Fine Arts. The classes related to my major are Microeconomics, American Political Issues, and Survey of Calculus.

I of course cannot get in on just one academic semester at USD, so they have to evaluate my High School grades.

Weighted GPA 3.6ish - Unweighted 3.44
Rank 178/600
ACT: 26
Extracurricular: Drama Club 4yrs, Baseball, 1yr Spanish Club 3yrs, Young Democrats 1yr and Volunteer Group 4yrs
I also worked while in school since my sophomore year, earning at least 5000 a year.
I took 6 AP Courses - On 3 I scored a 4. One is currently getting appealed but unknown status.

*My high school GPA doesn't correctly represent my abilities: Junior and Senior year I accumulated an average GPA of 3.6 unweighted and 3.8ish weighted. My sophmore year which was about a 3.0 is what kills me.

So far in college I have joined the Schools Newspaper Staff, Serve (community volunteering), Colleges Against Cancer, Habitat for Humanity, and College Democrats. Also, I'm apart of an intramural volleyball team. I also hope to obtain a 4.0 in college, but will at least get a 3.5.

I would also like to mention, during my sophomore year of high school. I went through a terrible depression due to the loss of some loved ones, and my grades faulted in a few classes. I however, overcame that and took up accelerated classes and AP courses, and am dedicated to being involved in the community and achieve my academic dreams.

The deadline for Application is October 1st. So they won't be able to look at my college GPA anyway.

bump please
