University of Minnesota Twin-Cities

I'm transferring from UW-Stout to the University of Minnesota Twin-Cities CLA. I have 34 credits and 3.533 GPA. I am undecided at Stout and I selected Political Science as my major at UM. I am involved on campus, I represent my hall in the Inter Hall Residence Council, and I serve as the chairmen of our Leadership and Events committee. I am also involved with Relay for Life and inter mural sports. I came to stout with 17 AP credits so academically speaking I am a sophomore. The weak components to my transcript are definitely my high school GPA, and my test scores

ACT Science Reasoning 19
ACT Reading 30
ACT Math 19
ACT English 17
ACT Composite 21

Class RANK/SIZE: 306 / 511
Unweighted GPA 2.8

I realize that UM doesn't place as much weight on these numbers when an applicant has 28+ credits, but will it still hurt my chances, and do I have a chance at being admitted? I was just recently rejected by Florida State University.

Well, let's see...you're OOS, which won't necessarily work to your advantage and in my opinion, I think you getting in is going to be a crapshoot...but it also depends on what school you're applying to.Which one are you applying to?

I'm applying to the College of Liberal Arts, and when I looked at the college GPA's of transfer students admitted into the CLA, 40% of the students 3.5 or higher. I'm hoping that they go off my accomplishments in college and not my lack of accomplishments in high school.
