Tulane is my first choice. In my first semester junior year I had multiple hospital visits, a baby sitter born and a lot of absent days causing my gpa to drop from UW 3.4 to a 3.14, I plan to pull it back up to a 3.4 in the next two semesters. my sat is a 1440 with a 30 SAT. 100+ hours of community service. But only have 2 AP classes on my record. I plan on writing the optional essay.
I also am going to a private school in MD that is known for rigorous academics.
From what I’ve seen, Tulane acceptance is all over the place so I would not rule it out.
Does your HS have a college fair? Introduce yourself to the admission rep.
Go to the college information nights & introduce yourself to the admissions rep again.
Visit the school & write a meaningful “Why Tulane” essay.
Use your common or coalition (I forgot which one they use) to write about overcoming the obstacles of your junior year.
Sign up for the optional alumni interview.
My S was admitted and I truly believe that his EC’s, alumni interview & shown interest helped tip it in his favor.
@noah1108 I was accepted with 3.5 and same SAT; 32 ACT. I did meet the admissions officer and communicate with him. My essay was strong and really expressing my interest. Downfall is my GPA did not warrant merit so that is a huge factor since the coa is so expensive. Good luck!
@jk201820 @sebound2022 thank you guys. I just spoke with my college counselor and he recommended retaking one or two classes to boost my gpa. Which could probably get me up to a 3.5 since my grades were so poor. Thanks for the help. I also plan on applying early decision
