Chances of Waitlist for UCSD, UCI, UCD for CS

My S got wait listed for UCSD, UCI and UCD for CS.
GPA - 3.83(uW)/4.12 (W)
SAT - 1520

  1. What are his chances of making it for CS in UCSD or UCI?

  2. I understand that it will be at least mid- May before they let you know. Will it be okay to accept UCSC and will they allow to move to anther UC, if he clears WList?

Changing to another college after matriculating would forfeit the deposit at the first college. However, the student should matriculate to a college, because most waitlists become rejections (and a UCSD waitlist admission may be for undeclared rather than CS).

  1. No way to predict his chances for the UCI and UCSD waitlist and many waitlisted applicants that are admitted are placed into Undeclared instead their 1st choice of CS.

  2. He should enroll in a college by May 1 since there is no way of knowing when the waitlist admits will be notified. If he is admitted off the waitlist, then he withdraws from UCSC, forfeits his enrollment deposit and then can accept admission at the other UC.

Hi! I got waitlisted from both UCI and UCSD and opted in the waitlist for both. Out of these two, UCSD is my top choice however, opting in the waitlist gives me 5 days to take the offer if I am granted admission. How long does UCI wait for me to reply to their offer, if I am luckily granted admission to there?
