I plan to write my personal statement on the summer between my freshman and sophomore years when i traveled abroad in ecuador alone without parents and not through an exchange program in order to better my spanish speaking skills. It was both a rewarding and scary (at first) experience which I think could best show colleges my passion for medicine (i volunteered often at a hospital in Quito) and spanish which will hopefully be my intended double major.

I am signed up to take both tests again in the fall because besides maybe my rank they are pretty much the weakest point of my application. Hopefully I can improve but im not sure if i should just send my ACT considering it is better, or would i look shady to colleges?

Anyway, i'm not sure what school I will apply early to but my mom wants it to be Harvard EA. Only, I don't want to waste my chance at increased acceptance rates on something out of the question. I would be happy to apply to the Brown PLME early or possible yale or dartmouth. Other schools i'm considering are Johns Hopkins, Pomona, Duke, middlebury, Cornell ,and others.

Thoughts on my chances and any suggestions for safeties? right now I cant think of many places that are sure acceptances. Thanks so much!
