<p>Does anyboy know approximately how many are waitlisted, and how many of those eventually get in?</p>
<p>Thanks in Advance.</p>
<p>Last year</p>
<p>if that few people were admitted from the waitlist...my chances are close to 0. Do you know how many people were on the waitlist?</p>
<p>"In 2007, we offered admission to 6 students on the waiting list; in 2006, the number was 110."</p>
<p>I'm predicting higher yield this year, unless they wait listed a massive amount of people.</p>
<p>Is there a difference between "waitlist" and "priority waitlist"?</p>
<p>My status says: "Candidate has been offered a spot on the priority waitlist"</p>
<p>did anyone else get the status "Candidate offered position on priority waitlist"</p>
<p>whats the priority waitlist?</p>
<p>Someone please help me out here...</p>
<p>-so now what do we do?
-when do we find out?
-how many people are on the WL?</p>
<p>how many people are on the WL?</p>
<p>Let's say I respond affirmatively to the waiting list. Does that mean, if Rice accepts me eventually, that I MUST accept their new offer? Even if I have committed to another school? Or do I still have a choice.
In other words, is reply affirmatively to the waiting list binding?</p>
<p>no i don't think so. although if you write them a letter re-expressing your desire to attend Rice, and saying that if they take you from the waitlist you will go to Rice, then I'd imagine they'd be sorta ****ed if you didnt.</p>
<p>Okay....

You definitely still have a choice. If accepted off the waitlist you have a chance to check the financial aid package and make a decision to attend or not.

This year is ANYONE's guess! If you are at all interested in attending Rice, STAY ON THE WAITLIST. You can always decline if they offer you a place and you don't want it. This year everything is in flux especially with the changes in financial aid policies at lots of the top schools, and the removal of ED at some schools and ID at Rice. Also, Rice is increasing enrollment -- all these uncertainties mean that Rice may pull heavily from the waitlist or not at all. There is no way to tell until kids make their commitments to their schools, and then the summer melt happens. There have been several posters on the Rice website that were accepted off the waitlist; once you get to Rice, it doesn't matter how you got there - with a likely letter or off a waitlist or as a transfer student. You are welcomed, just the same.
Good luck to all!</p>
