New Here!
Okay so I am applying business undecided or finance for schools that you must choose.

GPA: 3.36 unweighted from a top NJ high school
SAT: CR: 570
Math: 640
Writing: 510

I have taken every business class my schools offers (Personal Finance, College Accounting 1 & 2, Marketing 1, Economics, Legal Studies)

No AP or honors classes but most of my core classes are College Prep.

Junior Year was my best year for grades (upward curve)

Important senior Year classes: Precalc, 2 science classes (forensic, biogeology)

I have had a part time job as a cashier/stock since April of junior year (20-25hrs per week)
I have been babysitting 6 hours per week since freshman year.
I volunteered at a day camp, local temple, fund raised in Relay for Life.
Member of high school jazz band all 4 years.

I would like to know my chances at my reach schools:
Penn Sate Smeal college of business
Rutgers NB business school
SUNY Albany
U Delaware
Towson
Drexel
Umass Amherst- Isenberg school of Management

Thanks!

Academically:
Penn Sate Smeal college of business = out of reach unless you attend a branch campus first, then transfer with a high GPA for junior year (admission into Smeal from a branch campus is competitive)
Rutgers NB business school = reach
SUNY Albany = match
U Delaware = match
Towson = safety
Drexel = reach
Umass Amherst- Isenberg school of Management = reach

Financially:
However, many of these schools are public universities. Therefore, many are going to be out of state universities. What’s in-state for you? That’s where you should focus your energy, because out of state publics do not offer institutional financial aid - another way to put it is that those schools will be from $20,000 to $45,000 out of state, and will only provide you with federal aid, ie., $5,500 in loans and if you’re low income some Pell Grants. Everything else will have to be paid by your parents and in most cases it’s just not worth it.

Run the Net Price calculators on all these websites, talk with your parents based on the results, and adjust your strategy depending on what they say. Better find out now than later.

Pretty big reach for Rutgers business. You can apply liberal arts and try to transfer, if you are confident you’ll be able to achieve a high GPA.

Thanks for the replys. As far as in state, the only school I am applying to would be Rutgers. I had a feeling that Penn State would be a very high reach/out of reach. And honestly, I do not like the school enough to do their 2+2 program.
