I AM VERY FOND OF THE SOCIAL SCIENCES AND WOULD LIKE TO MAJOR IN THEM. I COME FROM A PREDOMINATELY LATINO COMMUNITY IN THE CENTRAL VALLEY IN CALIFORNIA WHERE MOST OF THE STUDENTS DROP OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL AND DO NOT ATTEND A FOUR YEAR UNIVERSITY. MY FUTURE ASPIRATION IS TO TARGET COMMUNITIES SUCH AS MINE, AND HELP MORE AND MORE STUDENTS BE AWARE OF COLLEGE AND THE BENEFITS OF LEARNING etc...

So what do you think??? Do I have a chance???

SAT II: Spanish 690 (very poor as well, but I am fluent, just a horrible test taker)
SAT I: 1700 (600 writing, 580 math, 520 critical reading) (very poor i know!!!)

You don't appear to be low income considering that your work experience is extremely limited, and isn't really 'true' work experience. I think you already know the answer to this.

Reach for the stars buddy...

Probably not but you won't find out if you don't try.

How did you do on the APs you've taken already?

I should think you might (if you haven't already) look at some of the SAT optional schools.

I think your chances are slim to none unless you get at least one and preferably both SAT1's over 600. Harvard doesn't publish it's common data set, but most of its peer institution have less than 5% of students accepted with any score lower than 600. (Here is Yale's - see page 9 - http://www.yale.edu/oir/CDS2005_2006.pdf )I just don't know that your application is compelling enough for you to be one of those exceptional admits.

I don't think that URM status will be able to help you given your low SAT scores. While URM status does act as a "tip" for those who may be on the border, minorities here are, for the most part, just as qualified as non-minorities.
