Senior in high school 3.2 gpa. SAT scores: 630 on reading, 560 on math, 590 on reading. 1190 total or 1780. Good essay. What are my chances in getting in Rutgers, New Brunswick?

If you applied to SAS , you should get in. Other schools, not so sure.

What does that mean you don’t necessarily get into the whole school? How does the Rutgers system work?

Have you already applied?

When applying to Rutgers you may choose 3 schools/campuses. For example SAS (NB) RBS (NB) and RBS (Newark).

Each school makes its decision separately. It is harder to get into some schools such as pharmacy and RBS NB so that is why people will chance you for individual schools/campuses.

I am applying on december first. I want to go to New Brunswick because I hear that is the best education and the most college like campus. I am interested in Business. Is it worth applying to two other campuses or programs? Also what is the main difference between the three campuses?

New Brunswick campus is good. Sometimes people who apply to RBS NB also apply to the Newark campus because it is easier to get in there. You can apply to both if you want to, but if you are not interested in living in or commuting to Newark, I wouldn’t bother.

Also apply to SAS because you will probably get in with your stats, even if you do not initially get into RBS. And I’m not saying that you won’t get in, but you may as well apply to SAS just in case, then you can transfer into RBS as a junior (3.1 GPA required when transferring in from another Rutgers NB school. Required GPA may be higher depending on applicant pool).

What would you suggest as a third option? How is campus life different By going to one school over another on the same campus? Is it just that you go to different classes or your school is secluded?

Definitely apply to SAS and RBS NB. You may also want to apply to SEBS as it seems to be easier to get into than SAS. Here is a list of majors for SEBS [Information for Prospective Students: Rutgers SEBS](<a href=“Page Not Found - Rutgers SEBS”>Page Not Found - Rutgers SEBS)

When you are accepted to Rutgers New Brunswick, your classes may be on Busch, Livingston, College Ave, or Cook/Douglas. They are connected by a bus system. You may live on any campus, although most freshmen live on Busch or Livingston due to space.

Your school is not secluded. People from other schools may be in your intro classes because everyone takes the same core courses in the first two years.

You should really sign up for a tour so you can get a better idea of the campuses. You can go to the website and sign up for a bus tour and info session.

Thanks for the help lastly when you choose a school can you just choose undecided or do you have to be specific on what kind of business course you want to take will it matter or are you locked into your choice?

Most people declare their major second semester of sophomore year.

So you can go to SAS, RBS or SEBS and not be sure exactly what you want to do until then.

If you didn’t apply yet, I highly recommend that you do ASAP. Rutgers admission is rolling so the sooner the better.

I agree with rualum that you should apply to SAS, SEBS and RBS in New Brunswick. You have a pretty good chance of getting into one of them. IF you don’t get into RBS, then you can transfer from any other school later on given that you have the required credentials.

My son is in RBS and majoring in Finance and he also wants to minor in Economics which is in SAS so he will be taking classes in both schools.

Good luck!!

Thanks a lot
