What are my chances of getting into Rutgers NB SAS?

What are my chances of getting into Rutgers New Brunswick School of Arts and Science (SAS)?
I'm really worried because I haven't gotten a reply yet and I did Early Action. If they reply late does that mean I most likely wouldn't get accepted? :c

I live in-state, not sure if that benefits me or not.
SAT scores:
Math- 610
Reading- 420 :c I did bad on reading
Writing- 560
Total: 1590

GPA: 3.47-3.52

I'm Asian (and from what I heard Asians get a higher requirement :c )

The school I go to isn't that competitive to be honest :c

Since I did early action so I didn't get to send my first semester grades in until later on, will they see it? When I updated it I wasn't sure if I was suposed to wait until all my grades were in because I updated my senior grades with only marking period 1 grades (since I haven't recieved my marking period 2 grades), is that bad? D: I checked my SRAR and it said that I placed those grades as full course grade when I only updated it with marking period 1 grades, I also left the GPA blank.

I applied to Business in Newark, Pharmacy in New Brunswick, and SAS in New Brunswick. I alread got accepted into newark and denied in pharmacy, so Now my last resort to getting into New Brunswick (My dream campus) is SAS :c

Please give me an honest opinion of my chances. I used Cappex to check my chances and they weren't very good :x so I'm really worried.
If you got accept into Rutgers SAS please tell me your scores/gpa so I can kind of weigh my chances c:

I didn't do much EC sadly :c

I'm extremely worried about my chances now because I still haven't heard a reply yet and it's almost January 31st :c

Your reading score is low. It’s a problem because Rutgers, being the huge school that it is, must make many decisions in a short time, and so they rely heavily on stats like GPA and SAT.

I don’t know if you will get into SAS or not, but if you don’t, just go to your next choice, do well, and try transferring into SAS in the next semester or two.

Thank you for your insight! c:
I know that my reading score will hurt my chances quite a bit :c but I’m hoping with the very last bits of hope that I have that I will get into SAS. If worse comes to worse I could try transferring after 2 years from newark but from what I heard It is difficult to transfer schools.

I don’t think it should be difficult if you get excellent grades. I know of one person who got an F in his first semester at another college (which was originally his first choice over Rutgers), dropped out of there and went to cc for a year, got good grades, then transferred into SAS.

Oh okay, thanks! c:
If I do end up getting denied I’ll go to Newark for 2 years and transfer from there c:

I used to think if you got anything over 1600 on SAT and 3.5 GPA you will get in to SAS, but I have to change thinking. Nephew had 1630 and 3.5 GPA and got rejected from SAS, RBS and SEBS, so you never know. Good luck to you.

Oh wow, I’m sorry to hear that :c
Now I’m a bit worried, if someone with a higher score got rejected I probably will get rejected as well. When did your nephew get an answer? I still haven’t heard back from Rutgers yet :c

He found out last Friday about SEBS and SAS and about 3 weeks ago from RBS.

was he in state or does he live in another state besides nj?!!! and did he have EC’S ?!

He was instate…As far as I know about his ECs, they were ok. It was a surprise to all of us. I saw people get in with 1500s on their SATs and similar GPAs, so not sure what to think of this.

How was his courseload? Afaik Rutgers really doesn’t care about ECs. Perhaps it was his essay that turned them off?

mytwosons I am surprised at that as well. (not surprised about RBS so much as SAS and SEBS) I am wondering if he scored extremely low on any one portion of the SAT. I am also wondering if he is missing any admissions documents from his folder.

If it was me, I would call SAS and/or SEBS admissions and confirm the rejection. He doesn’t have great stats, but they’re not horrible, either.

I am also wondering what is going on with admissions this year. It seems so inconsistent.

afaik the essay is optional: you need to write it if you want to be considered for any scholarship or honors program.

This doesn’t prove anything, but it shows why we are surprised that he didn’t get in with 1630 and 3.5:

“The majority of successful applicants had SAT scores of 1600 or higher, an ACT composite of 22 or higher, and a high school average of a B+ or higher. The higher those test scores and grades, the better your chances of admission. You’ll notice that nearly all applicants in the upper right corner of the graph were accepted.”

After seeing that I have completely lost hope for myself :c I also still haven’t gotten an answer from NB SAS (and I did EA).
Should I just assume they have denied me? Why else would they not reply to me for this long?
Thank you for the link though c:

Your online decision is due by tomorrow so if you don’t hear anything by Feb 1st, I would call and ask about it.

Im still waiting too. I live in state. 3.4 and a 1680. Alot of ec’s and a great essay. so your not the only one. Hopefully we both get in. Anyone wanna chance me?

I hope we both get in as well! c:
Ah, the suspense is killing me, I wish they could tell me soon :c I still haven’t gotten an answer yet.

Me neither and im so anxious!! tomorrows the last day and i cant take it i just wanna know!!

There is a possibility that the answer date will be changed to later because of hurricane sandy o: the EA date changed 2 months ahead for those people who were effected badly.
I’m so anxious as well!

rualum, I was not surprised about RBS either, but was shocked about SAS. I think I will tell him to call admission and confirm. Thanks for the advice.

His work load was OK… He took honors Biology and honors Social Studies and English. He was an average student and well fit for Rutgers. He did submit his first marking period grades …not sure how good they were. I will keep you posted
