Chances...-Please Help!!!

Hi guys, I wanna get into Binghamton, specifically going into engineering department... I am currently a Junior in highschool... Probably first choice.

SAT Writing: 670

(I am planning to do ACT's in the fall as well, I predict a 29 or 30)
Unweighted Average: 89ish (idk what my weighted is...)

I attend a small public school, almost no one is going to go to SUNY Binghamton in my observation.

Course histories:
9th grade : Honors Geometry, Intro to Programming in C
10th grade : Honors Algebra II, Honors History, Programming to C part 1, Unix
11th grade : Honors Pre-Calc, AP Physics B (I got a 4 on the test), AP Chemistry (I did not take AP test, I panicked, however passed the course).., Programming to C part 2
12th grade (will be taking): Honors Economics, Honors Latin, JAVA programming, Data Structures
4 years of Math, Science, History
3 years of language - Latin
(The computer programming classes are minors, but stuff I definately want to do in my college years)

AP Scores : AP Physics B = 4, AP Comp = Haven't taken it yet, AP Chem = Wimped out
SAT 2 scores: SAT II MATH I = 710, (SAT Subject test MATH II and SAT subject test Physics will be taken this fall, probably between 650-700)

EC :
Track Spring and Winter since 9th grade
Math Team
Science Team
Chess Club
(I will be doing Robotics team next year)
Created a video programming club at school
40+ hours of community service
National Honors Society
Took National Business Test, I got within top 15% of the country

Sorry if I am posting too early with all these things I have yet to take but I really want to know my standings right now. I heard that 28,000 students try out each year for 2,000 spots in the freshman year, I went to the Binghamton Campus tour and thats what they told me.

I know you’re anxious, but I really wouldn’t bother to post these chances threads. The reality of the matter is that nobody here really knows. We can compare stats to a certain extent, but it depends on the major you’re applying to, how many people apply next year, and a ton of other factors we know nothing about. These chances threads can be wildly inaccurate and your time would be better spent perfecting your essays and adding to your resume than asking us if you’ll get in or not.

Also, just so you know, just because they aim for about 2,000, doesn’t mean that they’re wildly selective. They accept many more students than that, understanding that not all of them will choose Binghamton.

haha well thanks but my parents wanted me to check out this site for some opinions since I can’t seem to formulate my own at this point. Well, any suggestions none the less that you do not see here?

Only the generic advice to get your SAT and GPA as high as you can, probably especially math since you’re applying for engineering. I honestly can’t compare to my own admission because when I applied to Watson, it was as a transfer, which is an entirely different ballpark. Your ECs seem really relevant to your field, which is good as well.

Apply EARLY EARLY EARLY. They won’t have early action anymore, so all I can tell you is go through your essay, keep up your grades, and get great recommendations and just hope for the best! =)

for the class entering for fall 2009, the acceptance rate was 31%. the acceptance rate had been steadily declining over the past number of years and with the economy increasing applications, this was an even further decline.

so you should consider binghamton to be fairly selective. and comparing your stats to those of students from prior years may not be terribly helpful – this past year, there were many students who assumed they’d get in based on what they knew about prior years’ admissions and many were rudely surprised.
