Chances please? Hopeful ED for BU next year

Hey I’m a junior so I still have some variables that may go one way or another, but I wanted to know if, with the track I’m on now, there’s a possibility.

(probably about 6) First quarter will be History, second quarter the science aspect, third quarter the math and statistics part, and fourth quarter English to write my final thesis, which I have to present to the faculty committee. I planned to send out my abstract with my application so the colleges would have an idea about what exactly it means, and if they wanted my final paper.

Misc:
My school isn’t sending out class rankings because we’ll have less than 70 kids probably graduating, which means our ranking system is f-ed up.

As far as recommendations go, my school is extremely small so I have great relationships with a few of my teachers, getting glowing recommendations won’t be a problem.

I’m a strong writer, and my essay topic’s a bit different (How I helped my friend cope with her debilitating mental illness) but if you guys think I should change it, I’ll consider it.

I’m African-American/Caucasian if that helps, haha…

I plan to double major. For BU, I hope to double major in Costume Design and Psychology with extra Bio courses. If I don’t make it into the CFA/CAS dual degree program though, double major with Psych and History. And all on the pre-med track, haha… It’ll be a lot of work, but I know if I give it my all I can make it happen.

Thanks everyone!

of course you’ll get in

DO NOT apply to BU ED. That would be stupid. Apply regular and apply for merit scholarships, and if you don’t get money go to a GOOD school instead. The only reason for someone like you to go to BU is if you don’t have to pay for it.

Also, I don’t think this is real. That’s the most useless double major I’ve ever heard of.

The double major is based on my personal interests or passions, if you will. If I’m going to spend 4 years in Med school (as cliche as it sounds because I want to help people, certainly not because I’m interested in science) I want to spend my undergrad doing what I genuinely enjoy. I like sewing. And I like costuming. So Costume Design BFA. And if I don’t get into that program, I adore American History, so that’s my other option. My overall goal is to make mental disease diagnosis more objective than subjective, hence the psych degree with extra biology courses. I’m willing to put in the work and deal with the stress of the double major because that’s how interested in the fields I am.

I love what I’ve seen from BU. From the location to the atmosphere. Besides, no other school that’s in my location area (east coast) has a program like MMEDIC, which I desperately want in to. Being guaranteed a spot in a med school is an amazing thing.

Thanks, BUsenior. That was a really nice and considerate reply.
Though I will consider what you said about the merit scholarships.

Just be sure to consider this: BU has no incentive to give you scholarship money if you’re bound by ED to go there regardless.

See I always found that weird. Because the only way to get out of an ED agreement is if the financial aid isn’t sufficient enough for you to be able to pay, wouldn’t they want to help you out somewhat to make sure you attend?

Some of the full scholarships have early deadlines. For example, December 1st (or something similar) for the trustee scholarship. So I was wondering how that worked out if you didn’t apply ED or at least very early…

What were you wondering? You apply before the deadline. It’s pretty simple.

Well if I have to get the application in that early to begin with, why not just do ED with it, especially if I’m set on BU? I know I shouldn’t rely on scholarships that my chances are slim in, but still… haha, I don’t know what I’m really what I’m getting at here.
My financial situation doesn’t seem to have a lot of need, income bracket’s pretty high. So I guess it’s true that ED isn’t exactly helping my cause, but if they don’t offer enough aid, and I can’t negotiate any more, it doesn’t make much of a difference if I’m ED or not.

Gah, I just got home from a 6 hour car ride, not sure if any of this post makes sense…!

I did ED at BU and I’m a freshman here now. I absolutely love it and it was all that I imagined for, but I wish that I didn’t do ED. Not because I would rather be at a different school, I absolutely love BU, but because of the financial aid that I wish I had gotten. My parents make a good amount of money, but I always feel bad that I’m spending it here at this institution and also the economy is so unstable - who knows? Also, if you get a scholarship you can probably ask your parents for more money throughout the year to pay for things like going out with friends, a new laptop, a new phone or something. I always feel bad asking my parents for allowance or extra money just because the school is so freaking expensive!

Also I applied ED because I wanted to get it over with and increase my chances but it looks like you have amazing chances of getting in! So I think that even if you’ll apply regular you will still get in and won’t have to worry while you wait for the results!

Allowance?

If you get that 2100 on the SAT, I think you’re definitely in
