bump. . . . . . . . . .

Do you have a weighted GPA?

3.7 is good for the majority of those schools, if not all. The hardest is going to be UCLA, seeing as it's pretty difficult to get into -and you're out of state. Same for the rank, top 10% is good enough to get them to not throw you out instantly. It isn't bad at all.

See if you can retake the SAT? But, even if I sound like I'm just repeating myself, that's higher than a lot of applicants at many of those schools as well (except for UCLA, and the other UC schools)

Make sure you send the music samples. Although a lot of other applicants have won competitions, too, particularly given how many apply to the UC schools (or any public school, the U of A isn't bad either), it can't hurt. Try to get critiques if you can.

Your courseload is definitely good enough, period. Lots of honors and APs.

You'll get into ASU, no problem. Penn State, most likely. GPA and test scores are the primary criteria at most of these public schools, penn state in particular. You're upper range in SAT, and about 40% are top 10% in their class there. You're fine.

I'm not entirely sure on others? See if you can expand ECs and everything, especially in your interests for your major, if you can, even if you're aiming for public schools.

Except for Pepperdine. Religious affiliation is a big factor there. You should be fine on standardized tests, and courseload, but the essay, recs, ECs, and personal qualities are considered just as important there. My neighbor used to be involved with admissions there.

The ECs wouldn't set you apart, but I don't know who you are, how you can write or anything. I'm just letting you know what it takes to get in there.

I don't know about UCs. You're generally a match, although UCLA's a reach. UCSB is big on essays. Santa Cruz is generally easier, but from what I hear, in-state is even bigger there. You should be in at Santa Cruz anyway.

Actually, not just UCSB, make sure you do well on the essay for all the UCs. Other than that, it's mostly academics, but don't forget the writing.

Thanks so much for your input. I'll definitely try to make more room for EC's senior year when I will hopefully have more time. By the way, my school is lame and does not give us weighted GPAs.
