Hello, it's the summer and I'm already starting to write application essays and getting a bit nervous. Wanna help calm my nerves and give me a chance? :)

Cali/Male/Asian

1st generation to go to college in USA
born outside USA
One of the most competitive schools in Cali
Top 10%

SAT II: MathIIc 800, Phys 750
APs: Calc BC (5), Calc AB Subscore (5), Eng Lang. (3), Phys Mech (3), Phys E&M (3), World History (3)

ECs: Piano - 7yrs, Marching Band - 4yrs (Instrument for 6yrs), Bio-related Research Internship - current summer, Siemens - (pending), Math Club - 4yrs, Riddle Club - 2yrs (President)

Match. GPA is a bit subpar, as you said, but you have great test scores and other things like that internship =]. Those SATII scores look great for an engineer! I think you should be fine for all the UC's (incl UCLA/UCSD/Cal).

I was just wondering though, isn't UCLA on par with UCB? Because I seem to be getting a lot of reaches from the UCB forum with the same app. Can anyone explain the difference please?

UCLA's strongest engineering major is tied between Computer Science and Electrical Engineering (both of which are ranked #13/14, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels).
