Because of the size of my school Freshmen are unable to participate in some ECs.

in everywhere

SAT scores?

Odds are you're in at Rice, Vanderbilt, Emory, U-IL, and NYU.

Gtown, Cornell, Northwestern are reachier.

UPenn, Columbia, Harvard, Princeton even reachier.

Stanford SUPER REACH.

You've got great stats and a geographic advantage. But you're not going to walk into top schools. I know a black girl who was admitted to H,Y, and P but not into S.

Why would Stanford be a super reach. You may know a black girl who was admitted to HYP, but I know nothing about her or her situation so I can't comment on her. But I know a black girl very well who attended my school and was accepted with lower scores than me. Plus, I am a black male which is a lot different than being a black girl.

And I was not expecting to walk into these top colleges. If I was going to walk in everywhere I wouldn't ask for the chance comments.

Anyone else with any comments?

I think you have incredible chances. Odds are you will be admitted into at least one or two Ivys. Even if you weren't URM, you'd still have great chances. . .write a rockin' essay! :]
And congrats on the ACT score!

Thanks for the congratulations! I should be o.k. on the essay, I'm a pretty good writer WHEN I have a good topic to write about. So far I have had a few people read my common application and it was solid from what everyone told me (but sometimes you can't help be feel they're trying to be nice).

Anyway, due I stand a better chance at some of the Ivies than others? I would prefer UPenn (still haven't quite decided between Wharton and the College) and Columbia if I was admitted to any.

woooo....affirmative action :-/

"Anyway, due I stand"

-...lol you mean "do"? you're going to get in almost everywhere. some of the top colleges are really hard to predict but I think you have excellent chances. again...AA ftw :-/

I took me a second to get the joke. At first I thought I typed something wrong.

how are you top 1% with a 3.78 unweighted GPA? is your school easy or EXTREMELY hard? thats what, 1 or 2 Bs a year right?

his school probably ranks by weighted gpa ( that's the whole point of a weighted gpa). so a 4.5 could easily put him in the top 1% at most schools.

My school does rank by weighted GPA, and it is far from easy. You will not find a highly skilled student with a 4.0 GPA. My valedictorian has gotten a B in a class before. I've gotten B's as well, but my school rewards people for taking difficult schedules. From what I know the schools in my district and the district next door are pretty well received by the elite colleges. We get people in top schools every year.
