<p>I think you certainly have a chance and should apply. Your GPA and SAT's are about the same as my S and he is a Colgate student. My D also had about the same but was waitlisted--even with a brother attending! It would probably help if you applied ED. I do not know if being from CA will help, as many students are from CA.</p>

<p>I think you have a good shot. That said, you're the typical applicant Colgate sees in terms of academic achievement and ECs. And being from CA isn't great, but it's not as bad as being from the north east, like the majority of Colgate applicants.</p>
<p>Your essay is what will really count here. On paper, you fit the Colgate bill. Your essay is what will define you and make Colgate adcoms admit or deny you.</p>

<p>There is something posted on the Colgate website saying that the 75%ile of SAT for accepted students is 1500 (M+V), so you probably have a pretty good, but not slam-dunk shot. Working on other aspects of your application and applying ED will give you the best chance at this point.</p>
