I got into Engineering with a regents with a 4.2 overall GPA, a 650 Bio SAT 2, a 620 Math 2 C, and a 2100 SAT, but I also have a lot of clubs and extracurriculars too. It seems that you are a good test taker but you lack a little in grades but you have extra curriculars to make up for that. I dont think that you will have a problem getting in just raise your GPA next year by taking AP classes so when you send in the midterm report you have a really high overall GPA.

thanks whokilledbobby... lol

do senior grades count?

do senior grades count in terms of GPA?

Isn't there a whole forum dedicated to "what are my chances"? The only reason I'm bring this up is because I like this part of the board because it helps with questions/discussions about people who GO to Davis or WILL BE going to Davis in the next months. I don't mind seeing one or two of these posts, but I'm afraid to see 30 of them and then this part of the board gets too clogged and is useless. :/

srry but i'm dying to get into davis.

And who betta to ask then DAVIS STUDENTS about this sort of info?

GO AGGIES!

True but there are about 12,000 other people just like you, lol.

Try Talking To The Other 12000 Peoples...lol... Instead Of Me....

:]

They post on the right forum. Anyway I'm not B*tching at you, just saying. I hate the internet since you can't hear tones.

thANKS a LOT.....

:]

ull get in for sure....ur EC and volunteer services makes up for ur gpa (which isn't bad in my opinion)

and the low income thing, you should definately put that on ur personal statement and talk about the low income related obstacles you have encountered and overcome

thanks fer ur input sunsurfN_sand... ps. nice username :P

Your community college courses count as Honors courses when UC calculates your grades so you get the same bouce as a high school AP course (a B is a 4.0, an A is a 5.0). Since you took several, this should help a bit to raise your gpa.

YES! but it's capped at 8 semesters right?

and how would colleges kno that i'm taking these classes?
Do i put it in my application, or send a seperate transcript from the community college?

thanks

Yeah, there's a place on the application that allows you to put the information for the courses taken out of high school. Also, you'll have to send them the transcript from the community college at the same time you send your high school transcript during the summer before you enter the university.

No problem. And yes Senior Grades do count in the GPA. They ask for the midyear transcript after the first semester so they take first semester senior grades into account at UCs so if I wanted to up that GPA I would just try hard the first semester of senior year. You should be fine though just keep trying hard and DONT fall into senioritis, until you have 15 days left to graduate, like me now. :P But I still have to study for AP Econ tonight. Eh.

Senior year grades do not count in your GPA. Your UC GPA consists of your grades from your sophmore and junior years in high school. Schools do not ask for your transcript in the middle of senior year; they ask for it after you've been accepted and finished senior year (to verify your application). I got accepted to UCI, and I've yet to send any transcript. You can, however send in transcripts for an appeal, but the GPA does not factor into admissions, only the classes taken.

PSHH!!! you're too hard on yourself. During college admission apps season, a lot of ppl I've met held that same pesstimistic attitude. But most of these people got into really great colleges. And it looks like your activities may outweigh your low GPA. anyways. Good Luck!

Oh and btw, Jason's correct. Senior grades are not included in the admission process and the transcripts are due, well for this year, on July 15th. An admission officer from UCSD personally spoke to me and told me that anything from senior year is not included in the admission process.

Match, your SATs + EC make up for your GPA. I know people who have gotten in with 3.3 gpa but basically no EC and 900/1600 SAT.
Good luck!

"-Admission exams
0.8(sat1+sat2+sat2)
0.8(2100+750+700)=2840 pts"

You got jipped a few points on this according to the link given by jas0n. The multiplier is 1, not 0.8. UCSD does 0.8, not UCD. You should have 3550, not 2840. (SAT1 + SAT2 + SAT2) = 2100+750+700 = 3550.

Ah, you are correct.
