Chances, Princeton, UPenn, Cornell?

Hi! I've applied to Northeastern, Stony Brook, NYU, Princeton, Cornell, and UPenn. I've heard back from the first three and am 3/3...but now comes the ivies! I'm really nervous since decisions come out in a week and a half. I know I probably won't get into Princeton, that was kind of a what the heck decision, but what about the other two? Cornell and UPenn? Do I have a fairly decent shot or are my chances dismal. =[

These are my stats:
SATs:
verbal: 690
math: 690
writing: 620
Composite: 2000
I know my SATs are kind of low for these schools...
GPA: 4.0 UW or 95.1 out of 100. 4.6 weighted or 115.67.
I've taken the most challenging course loadd available at my school.
9th grade: all honors (no APs available)
10th grade: all honors + AP European History (the only AP offered for 10th graders)
11th grade: AP Stats, AP Physics B, AP Psychology, AP English Language, AP US History, Honors Precalc, Honors Spanish
12 grade: AP Calc BC, AP Chemistry, AP Spanish, AP Government and politics, AP English Literature

I am ranked 6 out fo 401, but only because my school weights music classes and I didn't take any. Otherwise, I would have been saludatorian.

I have pretty decent extracurriculars:
President/Founder of Book Club - 2 years involvement
President and treasurer of Key Club - 4 years involvement
Class of 2010 Secretary and Fundraising Chairperson - 4 years involvement
Leadership Council Community service chairperson - 3 years involvemnt
Teen to teen mentor program - 3 years involvement
First Relay for Life - Survivor Dinner Committee Head (I wrote about this one as my most meaningful commitment because it gave me some sense of fulfillment to a cause that is very dear to me because both of my parents were diagnosed with cancer while I was in high school. I didn't abuse this though, for danger of sounding "sob story-esque." )
I volunteered for 200+ hours in the hospital.

I've also had many summer jobs as well as jobs throughout the academic year.
Waitress at a deli: 06/2006 - present 12 hours per week
Hostess at a catering hall: 06/2007 - 08/2008 6 hours per week
Interned at a doctor's office: summer 2009
tutored students in math and physics: summer 2009

Though this is objectively speaking, I fell as though my essays were pretty strong. My commonapp was edited to perfection...supplements not as much, but honest and well written in the opinion of others.

I also speak four languages fluently (I'm only including this because it was asked): Arabic, Farsi, Pashto, and Spanish. (Spanish may have been a little bit of an exaggeration, but I have been studying it for 7 years, so I said, what the hey...)

Also, I'm first generation student coming from a very low income family.

My teacher recs and guidance counselor rec should be pretty strong as well.

So, based on this information, do any of you think you can judge my chances? I'm sorry, this is pathetic, I know, and so many people ask, but I'm desperate and need some consolation to let me sleep for the next week and a half..

Well, your academics are PERFECT. That’s just what ivies want. SATs… low for the ivies. EC’s look decent, nice volunteer work. If your essays were strong, that’s a big plus. But, pretty much everyone applying to these schools has a similar resume, so it’s the luck of the draw. I am guessing you’re not a legacy? That would have helped. If your SATs were just a little higher, you would be a shoe-in. Speaking of SATs, what were your subject test scores??? Its impossible to make a judgement without these, since your sat 1s were lacking, these might give you a big boost, or not. AP scores? That always looks good.

Oh, haha, i forgot to mention those. My Sat IIs were not much better, Biology 700, Math IIC, 680.

Though I was AP Scholar with Distinction - 5 AP Psych, 5 AP Language, 4 AP US History, 4 AP European History, 4 AP Statistics.

A 700 on Bio is commendable. Good job on those APs, niiiceee, that DEF looks good. Hmm. I would say, Princeton: most likely not, but not impossible. Cornell: probably accepted. UPenn: half/half. Def have a shot, that’s for sure.

Hope I helped, just remember, wherever you get accepted is lucky to have you go there, and don’t get too set back if you get denied by any of these schools. You were already accepted to some GREAT universities. I would relax if I were you, you’re a perfect student, tested decently, and have some good ec’s, so, even if you get denied, it’s not the end of the world. Good luck, post when you find out!

haha, thanks! that’s what my friends have been telling me. and i will, hopefully it’s good news, but either way i do have schools i’ve already been accepted to, like you said.

sigh my chances for princeton have gone from slight to none though as i realize they don’t look at freshman year grades. junior year was my worst as a result of certain extenuating circumstances. oh well, wasn’t expecting that one anyways. lol.

anyone else? bump
