<p>helllo~~</p>

<p>i came here last year, and after a year's study, i have got almost all my stats~</p>

<p>would you please spend a minute or two to evaluate my chances? </p>

<p>background:</p>

<p>this is the first year i am learning in the US, i am improving my language skills with my best effort.</p>

<p>US perminent resident since 2000, but i didn't come here until the summer of 2005, and i had no good english. and now i finished the 11th grade here.(actually i had finished a 11th grade in China), so i am one year older than average.</p>

<p>SAT1: 570CR 630W 780 MATH 1980
i guess a 2100+ next time
SAT2: 670 us history 790 chemistry 800 math2 800 physics
APs: us history 3
physics c em 5
phy c m 5

toefl: not a problem
gpa: i have a 4.6667 for this year in the US.
all As for
english one, us history 3 ap ,chemistry ap, physics ap, calc ab ap, visual art.
rank: 1/550 for this year.
rank:1/70 for the years before i came.</p>

<p>volunteer hours: 0, i joined the key club, i'm waiting for them to call me to clean the beach, i'm excited about that, i never did that, but they haven't call me yet.</p>

<p>ECs: teacher's assistant or the physics subject representative for 4 years.
former school's students' behavior supervisor for 2 years,(a leading position in student government)</p>

<p>Award: highest scholarships of my former school, covered all the tuitions(a private school)</p>

<p>other things: ping-pong for about 5 years, and i was the captain of the school's ping-pong team in both junior high and high school previous to 2005.
chinese national certified level two athelet of badminton, we as a team(3 people), got the championship of the city, and ranked the second highest in the province competition.(population 88.27 million)</p>

<p>hook:?now i'm a inventor for four granted inventional patents, </p>

<p>actually i just applied highschool level knowledges and solved some common problems.</p>

<p>the patents were classified into 3 categories, the highest and most authoritive and the hardest one is inventional patents, which need to undergo 3 experts' "essense examination", unless it passed all three of them, the patent application would be rejected. it always took 3-7 years from application to the granting. and most application were rejected.</p>

<p>the essense examination is a standard that the application would be approved only if the patent application is creative, scientific and applicable, and no current human's technology could be paralell to, otherwise, it will be rejected.</p>

<p>other: little things don't count i guess.

<p>Your CR and W SAT scores aren't strong enough to get you into places like Stanford, MIT, CIT, or HYP but your physics, math, and chem scores are impressive. You should look at schools like Carnegie Mellon (only a bit of a reach for you, and if you score around 2100 on your SATs, you'd probably get in), Rochester Institute of Technology, Georgia Tech, New Jersey Institute of Technolgy, Case Western Reserve, Purdue and maybe a school like University of Chicago if you want to try a real reach.</p>

<p>By the way, I should add that after MIT, CIT, Stanford, and perhaps U of Chicago, Carnegie Mellon is the top tech and science university. Also, the lower Ivies are probably beyond your reach as well. Again, the your CR and W scores are the problem. In general, if you want to get into an Ivy - any Ivy - you need to score at least 2250 on your SATs, unless you have a big hook.</p>

<p>If you really work at your English this summer, reading good books and doing practice exams, your verbal subscores are likely to go way up. Give it a try.</p>

<p>you dont need a 2250 SAT to get into UChicago, but you do need very good essays.</p>

<p>thanks, i have read the Pride and Prejudice(i understood it almost completely),the little dorrit(i just understood half of the sentences in some paragraphs)</p>

<p>i found my reading speed had drastically improved, i did a critical reading and got a 630-690.</p>
