Chances that I will get accepted to Irvine?

im a junior in highschool. resident of california.

weighted total gpa(NOT UC GPA): 3.35/3.44 (depending on what i get in bio)
sat:2100
ECs:swimmer, (on the swim team for 2 years, injured for a third year), coach for 3 years(2 years volunteer), community service 100 hours,

4 aps junior year: calc ab, computer science, ap psychology, ap biology

i think im really screwed... my sophmore year consisted of a 2.8 first semester and a 3.3 second semester which averaged out to a 3.05 total for my sophmore year...

im projected to get a 3.67 for my junior year so my total highschool gpa(sophmore and junior) would be about a 3.35...
IF however, i can pull off an A in bio, would have a 3.83 for my junior year... which would make my TOTAL GPA a 3.44.

i have some problems at home and adhd which i will mention in my essay...

please tell me my chances of getting into all the ucs.. except for riverside and merced.

im taking my sat subject tests soon.

irvine emphasized gpa alot this year…

know alot of people with 3.8gpa and 2200 getting rejected from irvine

ouch. how about the other UC’s? what are my chances there

Go to community college  . All the UC’s are guarantee admission programs except UCLA and UCB. All you need is a 3.0 and some major requirements. Plus you save thousands of dollars! I have friends who went straight to the UC’s and regretted not going to community college.

I got into Berkeley and UCLA from a community college which I would have never gotten into straight from high school. So go to a CCC, if you didn’t get into a school you really wanted to go to.

Your four AP classes should give you eight bonus points, so you really should calculated what your UC-application GPA will be… it could be a 3.8 or higher.

That, plus your 2100 SAT, would put you in the ballpark for the mid-tier UCs (Davis, SB, Irvine)… your GPA would be on the low side (but shows the upward trend from sophomore to junior year), and your SAT is a bit above average.

Given the craziness of admissions this year (and I can’t imagine next year being that much less chaotic), you won’t be a sure thing… but if you apply to the three mid-tiers (and perhaps Santa Cruz as well), I think you’d have a decent shot of getting into at least one (if not more). And if you don’t, as iTransfer suggests, the CC-to-UC transfer option would be a viable back-up strategy.

Try to pull that A in Bio and do well on your SAT IIs. Good luck!

I agree w/ iTransfer…

I honestly don’t think you will get into Irvine from high school. I know the thought of going to a CC from high school seems awful but it’s SO worth it. Going for two years (and getting a great GPA) provides you with the ability to not only get into Irvine but also SD, SB, LA, and Cal. Getting a high GPA at a CC is really easy if you use ratemyprofessor, develop good study habits, and dedicate yourself. I didn’t have the GPA from high school so I went to a CC and got into Irvine for fall 09.

I would still apply to the UC’s and give it a shot but if you are committed to going to a 4 year from high school, I would look into CSU’s too.

Your weighted GPA is really low. As someone mentioned earlier, UCI placed heavy emphasis on GPA this year. But it does look like you definitely challenged yourself, but they look for applicants who perform fairly well under such circumstances.

You have a good SAT score, about 200 pts above average for UCI, but I’m starting to think that SAT scores are not as important to admissions as they used to be.

Do you have any awards? Leadership positions? For these are very crucial in the admission process as well.

Overall, to be frank, I do not think you have a good shot at UCI. But it’s all relative, I guess.

go to ■■■■■■■■■■…sign up and make an account and you’ll abe able to figure out your chances of getting in to any school
they were right about me.

Okay, I missed that the GPA you listed WAS weighted (I only saw the NOT UC GPA part). Sorry about that.

So, yeah, if that GPA does include your honors points, yours is significantly below average for the mid-tiers.

As dashboardjordan said, it never hurts to apply… but you’ll definitely need a backup plan… CC if you’re set on attending a UC, or CSUs if you’re set on going directly to a four-year college.

doubt his weighted / UC will be very different…he’s not loaded w/ AP’s. i’d say you have a fair chance. the only thing weak is the gpa…but you have 2100 SAT’s so yea. do good on your SAT II’s / AP tests / personal statement and you should be good.

i had a frend get into UCI w/ a 1700 last year if that makes you feel any safer haha
