chances, the most ambitious list you'll see

Righto, I'm an american citizen applying from pakistan. One of my essays was about my duality (american pakistani, science person interested in writing, stuff like taht), while the other was about coping with the fact that my pretty much everyone in my family has diabetes, and how its hereditary.

My school is VERY competitive, only takes in like the top 2 percent of Pakistani students

GPA: 3.8 something (the school doesnt really have a gpa or class rank or anything but this is based on the number of school exams i took; also theres a serious degree of grade deflation in the school, only five or six people out of three hundred managed to get more than one A in the midterms)

Straight A's in O and AS levels

SAT 1: 2400
SAT 2: 800(chem) 790(bio) 780 2c taking literature in jan

Recommendations: one of them should be pretty good, the other one should be good

Counselor recommendation: well this is tricky, because one day she'll be screaming at me, and the other she'll be going hysterical about my chances (in a good way) so i'd say it could go either way

ECs:

Research internship 250 hours ( though i didnt publish a paper or anything, didnt know we could here in pakistan)

Editor page four of a national newspaper

Vice president and founder of journalism society
Secretary Einstein society
Vice president society for amateur scientists
National Chemistry Talent Camp (one of fifty people who were selected to attend from the country) AKA IChO training camp
Coordinator of a program to teach underprivileged kids english

Awards:

Regional Highest O level chemistry
A few school competitions here and there
Science, English and math medals from school
School prefect

The lack of awards will hurt, i know. Especially considering my list

harvard, princeton, duke, dartmouth, columbia, amherst williams case western rice

I got into chicago early, hence the lack of safeties. Duke was my first choice, but i have to compare aid offers so i couldnt ed there.

interesting application. A few of your EC's and activities are similar to mine.

If you are in America, I would say you've got a good chance.. however, you are a international student.. I'm not sure how the Ivies weigh international students.

Were you born in America? What nationality are you?

american. But i've been living in pakistan almost all my life

wow congrats on being the first person i have seen with a 2400. everyone gets 2390s, 2380s, but you my man--YOU pulled the 2400. hats off. I would say your list is good. The GPA is a bit low for those schools, but since you are applying from Pakistan, its likely that the schools will view your GPA with leinance because they are so unfamiliar with how hard your classes are. When they see the 2400, they will clearly know how smart you are--because unlike grades which vary unbelievably from school to school due to teacher discrepency and class difficulty, the SAT is uniform, and your 2400 will provide an excellant basis for comparison

u have a really great shot at all those schools. i dont want to call any of them safeties because of how good they are, but well done ur gonna live a nice life haha

Lack of sports is probably the only 'flaw' I see...but shouldnt matter much. Everything else is in place. You are aware that top schools are unpredictable--they may take non-amazing applicants and reject the amazing, for instance--but you probably have decent chances at most of the schools on your list.

they will understand. hes an american in pakistan, he wont really be into hockey or cricket.

^ I just had to say this but I have never seen any american play competitive cricket.

lol, my parents and all are pakistani, i've lived here like 17 out of 18 years.

and i like hockey, i'm just not very good at it.

besides harvard, princeton, the rest are pretty much match/safeties
harvard likes sport, man! invent some pakistani sports to impress them, like make the new sport invention into ncaa or something lol j/k

haha i think harvard likes honesty a bit more :-p but yeah its an idea :-)

well, if ur a guy and dont need financial Aid, all ur schools should be do-able.

financial aid shouldn't be a factor, all my schools are need-blind. and i'm pretty sure i am a guy :-~

lol that crack me up
i remember reading an article saying you can change ur sex and they will change ur birth certificate, without even having to do anything with ur body. Oh damn, this should be handful in college admission.
