also, what ACT or SAT score should I aim for?

Anybody?

Hello? anyone?

Your GPA is a little low for these programs. To compensate for that, you’ll need to really stand out in other areas of your application. As for SAT score, I would try for 2250+ but most, if not all, of the students I met during my interviews had 2300+ SAT. Look for programs in your state because they tend to favor instate students.

Thank you. What areas of my applications do you think I need to work on to compensate for? @burningred

And it has been 2 months and I am most likely not going to do a BSMD because I am not sure if that is what I want to do. So how would I line up for these schools in general? @burningred

I wouldn’t rule yourself out so quickly! While your GPA is a little on the low side, you have a remarkable number of hospital volunteer hours. Try the VCU program–I didn’t apply there, but from what I’ve heard, you would be a good fit for the program. By “compensate” for the low GPA, I meant choose programs that fit YOUR strengths (aka volunteer hours) and emphasize your strengths on the essay. Try not to dwell too much on weaknesses. After all, nobody’s application is perfect. Also, get started on research, whether it be clinical or lab research, as soon as possible. I apologize if my previous post discouraged you from applying BSMD (that was certainly not my intention) and I hope this helps!

No no you were not! I will look into VCU? On another note, what do you think about my chances of getting into tho other schools on my list? @burningred

I can only speak for the UC schools, but I think you have a good chance at those. I know several people who got into the top UC schools with lower stats than you. Stanford is a reach, as it is for everyone (well except jack andraka).

Haha I like the UC schools a lot too! Hopefully you are right! Also, I cannot seem to find the early application info for it. Do you know where to find it? @burningred

Hello
I think one key question is

if you know you really want to be a md and then ask yourself the type of journey…

The bs md program key benefit is they lessens the stress for you know you have a spot at med school as long as you fulfil gpa and mcat(if they require it or require number )

Some people want the four or more year journey and the experience as well as the stress but understand the lack of guarantee and the nervousness seen w mcat , interview with regular route

I took the bs md for I knew I want to be md since age five

It is personal heart choice

Alright thank you! What BS MD program did you end up going to @bearchichi?

I will pm you

I hope you got for I may have messed up
