http://rogerhub.com/uc-undergraduate-admissions-calculator/ <-- this website states that I have an 89% chance at going to Berkeley based on scores alone (first red flag) but I usually tend to not believe these narrow-minded calculators, so I'd appreciate some CC help.

Thanks, and I will chance back when I get the time to do so.

bump10char

Wait… you’re a junior or a senior? How would you have AP scores as a junior…

I’m a junior; the scores are what I am almost 100% sure I’m going to get. My school literally over prepares students for AP tests, and I’m extremely good and have 98+ in all the AP subjects I am taking. Considering that you can fail almost half of the questions on the AP’s and still get a 5, I’m very confident that those AP scores will become realities.

Haha. That website is awesome. “Did you take the rigorous IB program (if your school offers it), or did you wimp out and pick AP?”

Unfortunately, the website incorrectly predicted my chances for UCSD, UCD, and UCI. It gave me “holy smokes” for all three of them, but I got rejected by UCSD and waitlisted by UCD and UCI.

That website is probably inaccurate because it places too much weight on the SAT scores. Scatterplots from other websites seem to suggest that the UCs completely disregard SAT scores. Also, the UCs view IB and AP classes as equals. The UCs seem to care the most about GPA.

Your GPA is really good, so I think that there is a high chance that you will get into all the UCs.

bump10char, would appreciate some chances! Will chance back with my limited knowledge if you have a thread/link me to your chances thread.

bumpitybump

I wouldn’t trust the calculator. I got <10% for both UCLA and UCB and I got into UCLA for Comp Sci and waitlisted at UCB

You’re in at all of the UC’s except for maybe Berkeley and UCLA (60% chance for those). UChicago is a high reach (I’d give you 15% chance). Stanford is an even higher reach (10% chance). JHU is just a reach (25%).

Yeah the calculator is horrible, to an extent. I mean, it calculates decisions based on previous SAT/GPA scores from the UC that you chose on the menu, and SAT/GPA isn’t everything that makes an application.

One question I had:

When the adcom’s look at your application, will your stats vs. your school’s stats be held in a higher light than your stats vs. all applicants’ stats’? Compared to my school, I’m easily top 3 or 4 students in my class, but I might not look as stellar out of the whole applicant pool pack.
