hey everyone. so basically i really screwed up my freshman year. my unweighted gpa was a 3.15...out of a 5.0. i know. awful. this year i vowed to do much better and by that i mean around a 4.3. first term of sophomore year went pretty bad i got a 3.75 and i'm hoping to pull off a 4.25ish this term/by the end of the year. if i do get a 4.4 for all my finals+last two term grades i have around a 4.25 unweighted gpa. and junior year, i hope to get a 4.4.

so here it is

by the end of junior year i hope at least a 3.9, which of course is really low because of freshman year. will colleges note that i improved that much? for example, UPenn (my dream school). will they notice that i improved by 1.2 and accept me? i mean my ec's include: classical indian drums, i'm good at the trumpet, i play tennis, i'm on science team, debate, class president. i'll have a good amount of volunteering hours by then, i'm not sure how much i have now. and say i get a 2300+ on the SAT's. i'll have good teacher recs and leadership roles in my ec's.

how are my chances to UPenn? How about Duke, Cornell, Tufts, Boston College, any ivy, Columbia, Wash U St. Louis, UMich, UC Berkeley, Carnegie Melon, Brown, Johns Hopkins? Any of these top notch school? It's my dream to go to one of them, and i KNOW i'm capable of improving to get there. my only concern is my freshman year and that all these schools will reject me because my gpa is so bad because of freshman year.

so please help. i really need to know what i should go for and how i should shoot for my dreams of going to one of these universities.
