I am a male of Indian descent, about to be a senior at the Bronx High School of Science
My GPA is absolutely dreaded. It is an even 80. I got a 2070 on the SAT.
My EC's:
-I conducted cancer biological research for two years at New York Medical College and I intend on submitting my research project and writeup to the Intel Science Talent Search competition
-I am an active member and volunteer of the youth association at my temple
-I am president of the Pre-med Club, which I have been active in for 3 years now
-I am a member of the South Asian cultural club at my school and have helped organize several cultural shows

I also took AP World History and received a 5 on the AP

I know my grades suck and my overall profile sucks, but I do want to get into a decent school
My list looks like
1st choice: NYU
2nd choice: RPI, Binghamton
3rd choice: Stony Brook, Macaulay Honors, Fordham, Drexel
4th and last: CUNY Hunter College, St. John's University

Please, someone familiar with this kind of stuff, let me know what my chances are for my schools

No Hope,
You’re a bit down on yourself. I would imagine that college admission reps will take into account the fact that your HS was competitive. Your SAT and AP Grades were good and should get you into a good school. Honestly, I am not sure about NYU or RPI. I think you have a decent chance at Binghampton and your third choice schools. Put together your application carefully and submit a really good essay.

I disagree. SUNYs have been alot more competitive with admissions these past few years. Binghamton and NYU would be your reaches. My sister, (class of '09 at your HS), didn’t get into bing with an unweighted average of 86. She got a guaranteed transfer though.

I would focus more on Stony if I were you-thats where she got into. Also, stony bumps your average up by a few points. They weighted hers to an 89. Write a really good essay though. Don’t get too disappointed if you don’t get into Bing. You might have a chance at Fordham (I’m looking there too), but recently they’ve been really tightening up on their standards…

Also. I have an 90 in a high school on par with stuy, and consider Macauley a reach school… I have NO idea why youre putting that down as a third choice… Macaulay would be reach for you… Bx sci friends with 95 averages got rejected from Macaulay last year. I think you need to do alot more research on colleges in order to ascertain which ones are good for you.

Your SATs are high, so that gives you a very flattering neutralizing pull to your GPA. So you have a chance. Good luck!
