I’m a currently a high school junior with a 90.54 avg and a 1520 new SAT score (first time taken). I’ve taken the math 1 and biology subject tests, 780 and 700 respectively. I plan on taking math 2 and physics this year. I understand that my average is pretty low in regards to the schools but I’m hoping my school and class difficulty can help a bit. I attend the second best high school in NY.
Here are the classes I’ve taken/ plan to take:
FRESHMEN YEAR: Honors Chemistry, Honors Research literacy, Geometry, English, AP World History, Spanish 1
SOPHOMORE YEAR: AP Biology (4 on AP), AP World (4 on AP), Honors Speech, Trigonometry, Spanish 2, Science Research.
JUNIOR YEAR: AP Physics 1, AP U.S.History, AP English Language, AP Statistics, Spanish 3, Precalculus
SENIOR YEAR (projected classes): AP Economics, AP Physics C, AP Calculus AB, Astronomy/ Astrophysics, Honors Creative Writing, Intro to Engineering class.
As for extracurriculars:
I’ve currently work apart of the engineering department of a hospital (been about a year)
President of history club
Member of math team from freshmen to sophomore year (btw i got kicked off towards the end and it counts as a failed class
Member of astronomy club
Have over 170 hours of volunteer work
Member of NHS and that’s about it.
I plan on majoring in engineering. I don’t know much about the whole college process or if they even count in the difficulty of the school and courses but I’d appreciate it very much if you can gauge where I currently would stand and what I should do to increase my chances of acceptances to any one of those schools. Also I forgot to mention that my averages have an upward trend, with me getting my highest average in all of my high school career in the most recent semester if that helps in any way.
