Those are my stats as of now. Are there any other schools I should be considering? I am interested in Political Science, and I hope to go into law. I am in the Humanities Magnet at Cleveland High School. It’s well-known for sending 30+ students to UCLA/UC Berkeley every year. Thanks a lot!

Really? Is there a reason for this? Am I too slanted in language? Can I sign up and just tell them I'm going to be taking it? I'll have to send the score directly.

One of the UC requirements is for the applicant to take Math IIC AND any two other subjects of their choice. Unless I'm outdated, this was the requirement last year as well as years prior. Since you've already fulfilled the "any two other subjects" requirement, all you need is Math IIC now. It's not just you, everyone has to take it. Yes, you can sign up and tell them you'll take it later (I believe the last chance is in December). In fact, last year, I took mine in December too. Make sure collegeboard sends your score IMMEDIATELY to the UCs after the scores are released since most students tend to want to see their score before deciding to send it. But in your case, it's too late for that now.

"Performance on standardized tests:
the ACT Assessment plus Writing or the SAT Reasoning Test
SAT Subject Tests in two different subject areas (English, history and social studies, mathematics (level 2 only), science, or language other than English). "

It all depends on the essay for you. You're a borderline applicant for Cal and UCLA. UCSD should be no problem for you if you apply as a PoliSci major. While you're at it, try to get Star or Life rank in BSA. It might slightly improve your chances.

It's nice to know SD is a match. I was worried that would be a reach. Everything depends on my essays now I guess. Plus a lot of luck. If I get into SD, I'm going to do the UC-UC transfer thing and try to get into LA. That's after I appeal to LA of course.

I'm re-taking SAT this week, will a higher score effect my chances at all? I'm also taking the ACT in December, just to be a well-rounded applicant. If I do badly on ACT will it negate my chances?

Everyone that got into Berkeley/LA from my high school had SATs around 1600-1700 so obviously it wasn't a big factor. Retaking the SATs and taking the ACT wouldn't hurt.

i think you may be a reach/match for UCSD. you should go to UCSD's website and look at the formula they use to determine your admission. Or, look at old posts because the formula is somewhere on CC. UCLA and Berkeley are big reaches because your GPA is low. A 4.0-4.1 may even be reaching these schools.

In recent history, 99% of non-URM acceptees to UCLA and UC Berkeley have been in the top 10% of their class. That figure is 90% for UCSD. (I didn't notice a rank mentioned). The UC-adjusted (weighted) GPA for the average UCLA incoming freshman was 4.15, I think, in the most recent cycle. So part of the whole picture is your grades in any Honors & AP classes.

Participation in e.c.'s is not as important to the U.C.'s as the level, role of participation -- such as significant leadership, national awards, etc.

And I agree with dimedropper. At the moment, Berkeley & UCLA look like reaches for you, given the competition. If you are determined to get into one of the U.C.'s, I would add other campuses, such as Davis or Irvine, where your GPA is more matched. You can always be pleasantly surprised at results.(Better that way.) You can also transfer to another campus if you get into one of the U.C.'s
