Assuming stellar essays, what are my chances for:
Schools

UC Schools (UCB, UCLA, UCD, and UCSD)

UT Austin, natural sciences

U Chicago, EA and Legacy

UNC Chapel Hill

Cornell

Wash U- Legacy

Penn State- U Park

UIUC

UW Madison

Johns Hopkins

Duke

Northwestern

U Penn

Mizzou

Chance what you can appreciate it greatly, I will chance you back.

Forgot, my UC GPA is a 4.25

all uc’s are match. penn state and madison are matches. rest are reaches

You will get into Mizzou, Penn state and Madison. Sure, the rest are reaches, but you will almost certainly get into one or more. A 33 ACT is fairly solid, and falls in the middle 50% OR HIGHER at several of these reaches. Hope this helps!

bump

Scores look solid, however you list of achievements is too long (you appear as being a braggart).

U Chicago is notably un-friendly towards legacy candidates, although it might help a tad. My wife went to UChicago and hated it, so talk to your parents and be warned.

Good luck

bump

You’re OOS for UC’s so you will pay full fees.

Numbers are good for UC’s. You will likely get int especially if you are in-state.

@auntbea‌ im aware. can you chance me?

UC’s are solid. Scores are good, ECs are phenomenal. Uchicago is always a reach, however, so work hard on the essay.

Your app is strong in all areas except your GPA and lack of really time-intensive EC’s (but the employment factor makes up for this). WashU, Northwestern, and Duke are probably low reaches (30% each), Cornell a solid reach (15%), UIUC and UT Austin matches (75%+). You’ll definitely get into one of these schools. Of your reaches, I’d probably pick your favorite, visit their campus, and consider ED.

@nickchan1‌ what about the indian classical music? been doing that for 13 years. given local, national and international performances. wrote my essay about it

UC’s would consider your OOS status; UCD match.
Your EC’s are academically or musically-based. Nothing outside of your comfort zone is noted. California is big on being “well-rounded”-i.e. sports, or unique and consistent club participation in something outside of academic/music, since most other students have similar backgrounds in musical training.

@nickchan1‌ Duke is significantly more selective than Cornell.

Penn + Chicago: reach
Duke: low reach
I think you’ll get in at the rest.

@bradybest now let’s just wait for femaleBlueDevil to get mad that Duke has been classified as a low reach…

and for chances I’m going to say:
Cornell, Hopkins, Duke, NU are all somewhat unpredictable, while I think you have a good chance at Chicago if you can highlight your connection (through your parents) to the school.

Penn, Berkeley, LA can be unpredictable too. I think the others are matches.

bump

bump

GPA is a little weak, but your ECs and ACT definitely make up for it, so you have a solid chance, but Penn, Johns Hopkins, UChic, Cornell, and Duke might be reaches (Cornell and Johns Hopkins most likely being low reaches)
