Chances Uc's !!

Like I said, I think you are already better than 50-50 to be accepted, but check this site out if you want to consider how else to improve your odds of getting into UCSD:

https://tritonlink.ucsd.edu/portal/site/prospective-students/menuitem.24134797e5e2fd95a0b86710514b01ca?storyID=20690

and here's some info on the standard profile of admitted students last year:

http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/selecting/camp_profiles/camp_profiles_ucsd.html

Sigh, I needed to hear that. Is UCSD's science program really stronger than UCLA's?

Anyway, as of this point, I'm more worried about volunteer service and test scores.

BTW I failed English 11 second semester, retook it, and got an A.

Last time i checked UCSD's average admit gpa was well over a 4.0 and SAT was just over a 1300. There is no way that the poster that is a safe match into UCSD. UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD are all reaches or slight reaches, depending on which school. Where are people getting the idea that these schools could be safe matches for the poster? The stats clearly say otherwise.

UC Berkeley: Reach (4.17 GPA, 2050 SAT average admit) http://universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/selecting/camp_profiles/camp_profiles_ucb.html

UCLA: Reach (4.12 GPA, 2050 SAT average admit) http://universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/selecting/camp_profiles/camp_profiles_ucla.html

UCSD: Slight Reach (4.04 GPA, 1950 SAT) http://universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/selecting/camp_profiles/camp_profiles_ucsd.html

These are brand new 2006 admit stats, which include the new lower scores on SAT that schools encountered. Last year, SAT's for UC Berkeley were just about a 1360, just above a 1340 for UCLA, and just above a 1305 for UCSD.

You should be in all the rest of the UC'S no problem (UCI, UCSB, UC Davis).

"Sigh, I needed to hear that. Is UCSD's science program really stronger than UCLA's?"

-Depends on what area of science.

No one said I was a safe match for UCSD. I think the 4.04 average GPA @ UCSD is the uncapped weighted UC GPA...there's just no way 4.21 capped @ 8 semesters is realistic for UCB.

Those GPAs are the capped GPAs. The average weighted, uncapped GPA at UCLA and Berkeley are > 4.2.

The GPA's for UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD are all capped GPA's. And for Berkeley, it states the capped GPA is 4.17, not 4.21. Uncapped for all three schools, like Gospy stated, is likely well over a 4.2.

So 4.04 CAPPED @ UCSD? That's a lot to ask for!!!
