Chances...UIUC is so selective now! ):

It seems that UIUC is getting extremely selective in recent years! I've always assumed that I'd get in, but now I'm not so sure of my acceptance.
GPA: (weighted)
FR: 3.7
Soph: 3.8
Jr: 4.72
SAT: 2190 ( CR 750 Writing 730 Math 710 )
Class Rank: Top 10 percentile; school is not very competitive and they take your weighted GPA when considering rank, so I still mananged to squeeze into the top ten percentile.
Course Rigor: I've taken the most rigorous courses available at my school. I've completed 5 AP courses, and I'm taking 4 right now.
Recommendations: Should be awesome, I have a very good personal relationship with the teachers I have in mind.
ECs:
football (9,10)
wrestling (9,10)
tennis (10,11, planning on 12)
newspaper club (11)
student council (11)
debate team (11,12)
charger nation (12) <----- this is basically a school pride club thing, we organize special events, etc. It's nothing special.
I also volunteer every Monday at a homeless shelter, and I'm a three time participant in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
On a side note, I'm getting straight As right now. So if UIUC looks at the first semester of senior year, I'd benefit greatly from that.
I'm applying undecided for now!
If you need any more information, give me a heads up!

Also I’m an over-represented minority, and in state. I’ve from various people that U of I does not have preferrential treatment towards “In-state’ers,” unlike the University of California schools. And I’m not sure if i should apply undecided. I want to apply to U of I’s college of business, but I heard that it’s much more selective when compared to the other options, and that I risk being rejected. Any advice? Oh and for what it’s worth, I’m retaking the SAT. I should score about 2250-2270.

I’d recommend that if you have any idea what you’d like to study, that you apply directly to the program. If you apply undecided, which is fine, you’ll have to go through the selection process again. One of the true benefits of applying to uiuc is that you can apply directly to a program and not just to the university in general, which would then require a review of your college grades to enable your entry into a specific program. If you get accepted into a specific program at initial review, you don’t have to worry about transferring in at a future date. If you specify a particular program and get denied, you are automatically reviewed for entry into DGS (undecided) at no penalty, so there is no penalty to applying to a program that you might be leaning towards without knowing for certain that you’d like to complete it.

Your stats make you competitive for any program at uiuc and so I’d say you’re a match regardless of what program you’d apply to except for possibly bioengineering. It’s to your advantage to apply to a specific program since you’ll automatically be considered for undecided if you’re not accepted to your first choice.

Wow, thanks for the plethora of information! And I don’t think bioengineering is anywhere in my near future, (; . So if i were to get rejected by a certain program, I’d still be an applicant for the undecided pool? That’s awesome! So there’s no point in applying undecided just to get into a less selective applicant pool. But since you seem to be very knowledgable about U of I, what’s their business school like, in terms of reputation, workload, etc? And most importantly, would I be able to get in? I’m sorry if i’m coming off as ignorant, I’m not really familiar with U of I.

The College of Business is very selective and is very highly ranked nationally with several programs in the top 10 including a US News and World Report ranking the Accountancy program as 2nd in the nation.

As I previously said, your stats make you competitive for the College of Business.
