I'm not positive I want to go to UIUC, but I'm going to apply and if I get in there is a good chance I might go there. I'm a little worried that my academic record isn't up to par. Here is what I have:

GPA: weighted=3.9 unweighted (out of 4.00)=3.3

Class Rank: 56 out of 181

ACT: 29

Extra Curricular: x country (captain senior year), track

I am an Illinois resident, and I go to a Catholic high school with a fairly good reputation.

Do I have a shot at getting in?

No, I don’t think that you have a very good shot. Your rank is not very good.

3.3 UW GPA
30% of Class
29 ACT
Illinois Resident

You have a chance if you do not apply to business or engineering.

Thanks mexicandelight.

Anyone else?

I agree with mexicandelight. I myself am from the Chicagoland area where many of my classmates choose to go to U of I. One of my closest friends (a communications major) was deferred but later accepted with a 27 ACT, a similar if not lower GPA (she got mostly B’s, some C’s). We went to Catholic school as well.

I think you have a good shot, just not good enough for business or engineering. Best of luck!

Thanks a lot foxysoxy! Hopefully with a little luck I’ll get in. Anyone else have any input?
