That’s it! Make me shake in my boots or set my mind at ease, especially for the Ivies.

Sorry to say, but I’m pretty sure Ivies are out of the question for you. Test scores are far too low, and your GPA is a bit low (though your rank is high, which is more important). Unless you have major hook (your EC’s aren’t incredible, and URM isn’t enough), it’s very unlikely.

As for your other schools, I don’t know too much about them, but I feel like you have a good shot at many of them. That said, you certainly need to add more safety schools with average SAT scores of 1000 or so.

Hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

Thanks for the advice. I definitely have safeties. I was just hoping, but geez.

Also, what’s a URM?

BUMPP

URM stands for Under-Represented Minority. It applies if you’re African-American, Hispanic, etc. Usually, this gives you an edge over other applicants, since schools need to satisfy their diversity quota.

Good luck! I’m applying to some of the Ivies this year too!

As someone earlier said, rank is excellent but the other academic factors (such as course rigor and SAT scores) aren’t very competitive for schools the likes of Penn and Colombia.

I wouldn’t worry about GPA too much as it seems you attend a fairly challenging school or have tough circumstances by the looks of your rank correlation with GPA. Maybe admissions will see that.

SAT scores for NYU and URochester are on the low side as well.

Still, apply as URM will cut you some slack

i still think you should apply! i’m know how it feels not to feel good enough and you just want to curl up in a ball and cry haha, but i really think you should apply! i hope your essays are poppin and as passionate as you are about going to these schools! your recs and everything that you can control is PERFECT! you never know what might happen and if no one else on cc does i do

Ivies are a long-shot for almost everyone, and impossible to predict. However, you never know! Apply and see, but also find other schools to fall in love with! Good luck!!

Thank you. I definitely did apply.
