Hi, I'm a high school student going to be a senior next year. I had taken my SATs, and at the moment am wondering if my chances are good for the scholarship (AES). My composite score is 1320, (600 CR, 720 M) and I have a GPA of 4.9, and I am also in the top 10% of my class. I have been taken all Pre-ap, AP classes since 7th grade when it was available, and am hoping to leave high school with 6 math credits, 5 science, 5 history, and 4 english. I maintain high B's and high A's(especially in P-ap Physics taking AP next year) and am hoping to major in computer science. I will be applying the beginning of my senior year(currently in summer at this moment), and basically I am hoping to get some opinions on my chances of getting the distinctive AES (full tuition).

You can get in. You need a 1200 composite to get automatically accepted. I’m not sure about the full ride. You do fall well above their average Achievement scores so I would assume you have a pretty nice shot.

Chances are you will probably get a full ride and if you work a little hard on the SAT or try to take the ACT (shoot for about a 32) you’ll probably even get a $2,000 stipend. I had a similar GPA and was also in top 10% and I had a 1280 composite score and I got full tuition and the standard $1500 housing that comes with all AES scholarships (this only applies to housing unlike the stipend which you can use on anything). Keep up the good grades and odds are you won’t have to worry about paying for college.

I have a friend who was in the top 8% at a competitive public school with a 1900 SAT with no extracurriculars who got the full ride (but without the stipend).

bull… I’m a transfer student from a local CC. I have a 3.9 gpa and have 53 transferable credits, but they won’t give me my AES/PTK transfer scholarship because i didn’t have 30-90 transfer credits at the time i was admitted. But on the website it does not say i need 30-90 transfer credits at the time i was admitted they only say something about that regarding GPA. So i went to FA to discuss and point out the issue on this and i sent an email for an appeal for my scholarship…still waiting on answers. The website online is very misleading.
