Chances? Visit or Wait?

Hey guys, I wanna know my chances for BC. I want to take a visit up, but coming from South Florida it would be costly and I don’t want to waste money if I prob won’t get in.

I have a 3.68 UW GPA with 11 AP and AICE classes and more honors with a strong upward trend (3.2 Freshman year).

My SAT is a 2080 (670 M, 640 R and 770 W).

I went into the SAT II’s without looking at a format and did awful. 640 MII and 540 Lit.

My main EC’s are club soccer (10 hours a week, 52 weeks a year) where I am the captain. I also have Varsity Soccer for school, was JV soccer captain one year and Varsity Golf.

I coach a youth soccer team and also volunteer in the local youth soccer for kids with special needs league.

For 3 summers, I spent 160 hours each summer volunteering at the local youth summer camp for my city.

I am also an NHS officer, surf club officer and a member of FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes).

I’m an AP Scholor and have received 5 school wide awards for highest achievement in that class along with a local city wide award for placing in a photography contest.

BC’s one of those schools that is a reach for everyone, but I think you have a fair shot at getting in, especially taking into account your extensive community service and commitment to soccer. I’d say with great recommendations and an awesome essay, BC could totally overlook the subject tests. Have you considered retaking Lit? Math II isn’t even horrendously low for BC, I think that’s about average for BC. Good luck to you!

Well, I wax going to take Lit again but I am only submitting SAT II’s to BC and I didn’t think it was worth it to pay 50 bucks or whatever and spend all that time studying for that one test.

My call, hopefully it doesn’t backfire.

Hi, my daughter is in her Freshmen year and we are also from South Florida. We did the visit during Accepted Eagle Day, and in my opinion you should wait till you get your acceptance if your tight with the money. Remember it’s not only the flight expense but also the hotels.

The campus is BEAUTIFUL in All seasons. We were in total AHH from the moment we arrived. The city of Boston is great and the T- line makes it easy to get around. My daughter has made wonderful friends and is very happy with her choice. We’ve just had to invest in lots of winter clothes and put aside all the tank tops.

I wish you luck which ever school you get into but still think you should wait till you get your acceptance. Remember that you will also be spending on your dorm supplies which runs costly to purchase everything.

Once again good luck!

If I recall, BC does not care about demonstrated interest. Thus, visiting now would be of no value in the admissions decision. Definitely visit if accepted, however.

Good luck.

If money is an issue for your family, then I would advise you to wait until you have an acceptance letter in hand, because you may have a reasonable chance for admission but are certainly not a shoo-in.
