Hi, I was just looking for some feedback on my chances at getting accepted into Vassar. I applied Regular Decision (though now I'm kicking myself for it -- really wish I had applied ED because it would have really upped my chances) because I was torn between Vassar and Rhode Island School of Design.

My freshman year I got a B+ in math, and sophmore and junior year I got all A's in math. I'm not good at math, but I work EXTREMELY hard in the subject to keep my head above water. And I can not do math quickly, hence the terrible math scores! They call time and I've only finished half the problems! Hopefully they'll see I'm an art/language person. I sent a copy of my portfolio for them to review. I'm praaaaying it will be an asset to me! I also checked the box for an interview so maybe they'll see me as an indivdual rather than just a statistic.

I've taken the most challenging courses my school offers, minus the math classes. My school sucks though, we only have two AP courses offered -- Bio and Calc. (And I obviously, wouldn't be taking the calc!) The only thing my school has going for it is the KAP program and the ability to escape through post-secondary studies, both of which I have taken advantage of.

I'm just really scared that I won't get in because I go to a crappy public school and haven't been able to take AP classes and IB stuff. I hope that Vassar will look past it and see that I've done the best I could with what I have. . .

I really value your opinions, and please be honest.

By the way, I'm also applying to RISD, Maryland Institute College of Art, the Cleveland Institute of Art, Denison University, Earlham, and Oberlin

(I would apply to Kenyon, but my mom went there, my grandfather taught chemistry there for 30 years, and my step-dad is the director of security and safety -- I want to be able to say I got in somewhere because I deserved it, not because I was a legacy!)
