What type of chances do I have?

Hey guys,

I know you're all going to love me for this. I appreciate all the feedback!

SAT: 1470 -- High math, low verbal (790m, 680v)
New SAT: Not yet
SAT II: Absolutely not yet

Class Rank: fluctuating from 3-6 out of 196...probably will end up 5, hopefully higher...and by higher I mean lower, or rather, better 3 than 6.
GPA: weighted around 4.3, unweighted near 4.0 (from a very competitve public high school)
AP's to be taken: US Hist, Government, English, Calculus BC, Economics, Physics

Activities:
Mock Trial-- hopefully an officer next year(10, 11, 12)
Political Action Club-- (11, 12)
International Relations Club-- (11), (12
Student Council-- Class Rep(10, 11), (hopefully School Treas(12)
Chess team -- Captain/second board
Math team -- won a few awards for top Junior (hopefully Captain next year)

Varsity Track -- pretty good, just barely didn't make states, hopefully will next year--probably not. Not good enough to be recruited.
Varsity Tennis -- Not as good as I am at track, probably First Doubles next year, or Third Singles
Ping Pong - Captain

National Honor Society

Piano -- Seven years, not concert pianist, but not bad

Helped administer a relatively popular website for three years

Schools:
Brandeis (I have Legacy here but not my top choice at all)
Georgetown
Cornell
Carnegie Mellon
Harvard???
Columbia
Brown

I'm wondering how my EC's compare with other people's.
Also, what should I work on most to help my chances or should I just stay the course and continue to work hard?

Your stuff looks good...I mean, if you have nothing else to do you could try to get your verbal score to 700 or higher, but it's not a big deal lol.

Yeah that verbal score will hurt you because your name is jabbermouth. Otherwise, not too much you can do.

haha--great point FishS. I cannot take the old sat anymore, but hopefully I can break 700 on verbal on the new sat. (I consistently stay between 720-740 on verbal practice tests)...

regardless, what are my chances at Cornell--right now my favorite school, and I'm guessing that my ECs are just average?

they're good, your stats are probably slightly above average(rank and sat, that is)

"Helped a woman learn to use a computer over a few weeks"

Maybe slightly below average ;)

that's why I said "rank and sat, that is" lol

haha thanks. I'm also thinking about the college of the ozarks--http://www.cofo.edu/ -- they work hard (because it's hard work).

what the hell is an ozark?

I think Cornell probably works a bit harder.

"Spiritual Goal

Patriotic Goal
To encourage an understanding of American heritage, civic responsibilities, love of country, and willingness to defend it. "

gah, I wouldn't want to be an ozark if I were you

yah, i'm only joking. plus that university is in Missouri! (No offense to Missouri of course)
