<p>Hey guys,
I'm a senior who applied EA to Caltech and I'm wondering about my chances. Here are my stats:
SAT-1550 Math:800 Verbal:750
GPA-4.41 ranked 6th in a class of about 380
3 Year Varisty Cross Country and Track Runner; I'm track captain this year
Science Olympaid team member all 4 years, we were state runner up sophmore year; on a personal note I was state champion in Mission Possible sophmore year and I have a plethora of over top 5 finishes at state in events like Physics Lab and Cell Bio; I'm also the captain of the team this year
Math Bowl Team member Junior and Senior Year- yeah nothing here to really brag about our team isn't to good but I'm on it
National Merit Commended Scholar
National Chemistry Olympiad Semi-Finalist
Here are my AP Scores:
Chem-5
US History-5
Econ-5 Both
Physics C-4 Both(I entirely self studied this because AP Physics is a senior only class so they wouldn't let me in last year)
Bio-4</p>

Organic Chem at a local university
International Economics at a local university
Calc 2 at the university once again
Stats for the Sciences at the college again
AP Physics(Taking the class to get a really good grasp because I'm thinking about majoring in it)
AP Euro
AP English
2nd semester I'm taking Calc 3 and Physics 3 at the university as well as finishing off Organic Chem</p>
<p>Also this past summer I spent all summer working with a professor on research in Solid State Physics and he wrote me a letter of recommendation and I spent the summer before at an engineering camp</p>
<p>I got great letters of rec from my high school teachers to that really stress my love of science</p>
<p>Well guys thats about it so thanks for any input; I'm counting down the days till mid-december</p>

You have SAT scores in the regiojn where they no longer consider SATs
You have great classes - definitely taking more than the HS offers

AP Physics C grade of 4 - that definitely shows initiative and can't help since you're self-studying.</p>
<p>I'd say that you have a pretty good chance at Caltech - nothing lacking - so keep your hopes up!</p>
<p>I went to the CU Boulder Summer High School Engineering Honors Institute. It was basically an intensive program where you picked two areas of study then hammered on them for a week; I did computer science and physics. It was a good expierence and I really enjoyed it. To anyone in Colorado with a few weeks in the summer to kill I would highly recommend it</p>
<p>Pretty solid applicaiton I'd say. If essays are really strong and teacher recs are as you said, especially if you filled in the box with something cool, I'd put a few bucks on you getting in. Your app looks stronger than mine was ;).</p>

<p>Also, just out of curiosity - how receptive are those professors at CU to students interested in their research? I esp. admire Eric COrnell (sadly, he's critically ill right now) and Carl Wiemann although since they're Nobelists, if they were receptive, they would see a lot of competition.</p>

<p>The Professors in the CU Physics department are awesome. If you are really interested in what they are doing they will at least take some time to talk to you and show you around the lab. Some of them do take high school students and frosh/soph undergrads in their labs but I don't know about Wiemann and Cornell specificly, but I know they would gladly talk to you for a few minutes</p>
<p>Hey born2run16517, u can be sure u are getting in to caltech, ur rcs SATs,did you take SAT2's? what werer ur scores? And the box, hope u put sthg really creative. I bet u'll be in CAltech next year. Trust Me.</p>
