Im a 9th grade female (Indian American)
I am applying to Exeter,Andover,Deerfield,Choate,Milton,Middlesex,Hotchkiss,St.Pauls,Lawrencevile, and Groton
I usually get A's at school but my average is B( all my teachers say my math skills are astounding always get an A+)
I have done dance for 5 years and music (keyboard) for 3 years now and am really good at debates and have always stood first in national Olympiads . When it comes to sports I'm good at many things but not great at anything at particular though . I took the SSAT in Nov and got a score of 2181 ,82% : Maths-779(92%),verbal-725(77%),reading-677(59%)
I'm taking it again in jan , hoping to increase my score by another50-80 points.
My applications are really good and my essays are looking pretty good ,
My teachers all like me and im pretty sure they are going to write good stuff about me ,
I'm pretty nervous as to whether any school will accept me what do you think my chances are please help me...

I need financial aid as my parents cannot afford the fees And their income is pretty low…

Have you looked at the average SSAT scores for your chosen schools? If you are above the average, you may have a shot at admittance with FA. If you are below the average scores, perhaps you should consider other schools. My DD is also applying for FA admittance to a school (one only), but she has a sizeable cushion between the school’s average and her score.

Also, I have read on cc that many schools like to see 80s for each subsections, especially when it comes to giving a student money.

This is just my opinion, but I know that each application requires effort (and a fee) and that effort (and money) would be best spent where it will have the most return. There is a website that lists the average SSAT scores for schools, so look it up.
i.e.: Andover/Exeter is 93 or 94, Choate is 85
Take it again in January and best of luck!

I don’t usually get involved in the chances thread, but you need to consider broadening this list. Your scores are a little low for all the schools on the list, and if you really have a B average, it’s going to be a tough hill to climb, made even tougher with the FA you need. There are a lot of excellent schools out there that are a little less selective and still offer substantial FA. Check the hidden gems thread on this board.

Thank I’ll try to improve my score and grade but if they don’t turn out to be great I will broaden my list

I realized my average was an A last year,I have 10 subjects out which i have B+ for 3 and A’s and A+ in the rest(no C’s)
I have had straight A’s from grades 4-7
This year I am studying hard so I am aiming at A’s in all subjects, does this help me in any way?

Have you taken the January SSAT like you said?
Yeah I did @thatwritingdream. I got 92%… I hope that’s a good improvement!
10% is a great improvement… Have all your individual percentiles gone up?
I heard schools like Andover like to see a person doing especially well in an area outside academics. For you it seems like that would be debate/national Olympiads. I know you’re done with your apps, but I hope you played that up. Good luck! I’d love to meet you next year
Well, Thanks for that!:)And yeah I mentioned almost every possible thing, even during the interviews. I backed out on applying to Lawrenceville and Middlesex …so no NJ for me.
