Alright, so first, here's a little background on me. I am 14 years old entering 9th grade this fall. I am planning on applying to private schools for 10th grade. I was thinking NMH, Deerfield, Phillips Exeter, Loomis Chaffee, and maybe one or two more. Last year, in eighth grade, I applied to only NMH, and I got in. The only reason I didn't go is because I didn't receive any financial aid. I took the SSATS last year and got a 75% overall. I didn't study at all, to be honest, because my application last year was kind of spur-of-the-moment and not very serious. SO, my first question is: Is a 75% good on the SSATs?
Now, this year i am much more serious about my applications. I know that Phillips Exeter has a high average SSAT percentile. Do you think I have a chance of getting an acceptable SSAT score if I study and work at it?
Thank You in advance for your answers. :)

@isabel103,
I’m also applying to some boarding schools this year, but I’m applying for ninth grade. But I do know about the SSAT. First a 75% probably isn’t good enough for the schools you listed. It probably is good enough for NMH and Loomis Chaffee. But it’s not good enough for Exeter and Deerfield. And of course you have a good chance of getting an acceptable SSAT score. Do what I’ve been doing. Buy the Princeton Review SSAT study book and the Kaplan’s book and study a ton. Good luck and hope you get in somewhere.

And remember that the SSATs aren’t everything. Make sure all of the other parts of your application are up to par also.
