Chances with bad GPA but good ECs and good test scores?

Thanks so much for chancing me, I’ll chance back - just post a link in the comments!

I’d like to know my chances for some of the higher ranked schools that I applied RD to: Tufts, Emory, Brown, UChicago, NYU, and American.

I’ve already been accepted to Fordham and U of Vermont, as well as two of my state schools. I have no idea what I’m majoring in, if that helps.

Here are my stats:

GPA: 3.69 weighted
SAT: 1730 (only took once and didn’t submit)
ACT: 31 superscored, 30 not superscored
ECs: Drama Club, NHS Officer, Key Club, Interact Club, Founder of Women’s Empowerment Club, Crew/Rowing Team, outside theatre company, lots of community service
LORs: two really good ones - one from US Hist teacher, another from Harvard alum AP English teacher

I had a really amazing UChicago interview after I was deferred, and an okay Brown interview (the lady and I just had opposing views on everything - she told me she wasn’t a feminist and I founded the Women’s Empowerment club, if you see where I’m going…) I also live in the town the Tufts is located in, so I supposedly have an “upped chance” of admission as they have an agreement that they have to accept a certain amount of students from my school each year.

If you could just help me out with your views on the chances I have of getting into these competitive schools, that’d be greatly appreciated! I’m so nervous! Thank you!

I think you have a good chance. A low GPA won’t cut your chances.
Nice EC’s however

I think you could get into American and that’s about it. If you’re gonna have a lower range GPA for those schools, you’re gonna need awesome test scores and extracurriculars. You need to consider your competition. I’m sure at most of those schools you are applying, the average ACT is 30-32, Therefore your test scores are nothing special. Don’t get me wrong 31 is very good but with the GPA you listed and the schools you listed, I don’t think its good enough. As for extra curriculars, You do have pretty good extra curriculars, but again nothing special. I don’t want to sound harsh but I can only pick out American as the only school I really think you would have no trouble getting into. The others ones you have a chance, But I think Brown and Chicago are a huge stretch.
