sf

i think your chances are amazing at Williams...
ru doing ED anywhere??

oH!!...u mite want 2 take a few more SAT 2s..maybe..

Are you going to run cross country and track at Williams? They have awesome coaches and a great program. Have you contacted the coaches? If you want more info, send me a PM.

Thanks a lot.
And no, I probably wouldn't run at Williams--skiing is too important to me.
And I definitely won't take any more SAT II's--those things are hell. I took the SATI once junior year and the two SATII's sophomore year when they were new and exciting, and that's enough for a lifetime.
Thanks again for your input.
Any other opinions?

swordfish,
I see on the web site that since the new SAT I now tests writing, you only need to submit 2 SAT II scores now as opposed to 3 previously. You may want to confirm that they still count the SAT II writing test as one of those 2. I have no knowledge either way on this, but it is better to be safe and make a quick phone call to ask now rather than possibly be surprised if it shows up someplace in some fine print.

Good luck. You look like a strong candidate to me.

Why dont you apply to an ivy league? your resume is impressive. What was your ACT?

It bothers me when people ask me why I'm applying here over Ivy League schools...

Don't let it bother you ryeCT. A lot of people seem to think that if a student has a good shot at an Ivy acceptance they are required to put an Ivy school at the top of their list. I'm guessing you gave your decision more serious thought than that.

I love williams. Would prefer it over Ivy any day. my classes are all small, i talk to profs just about any time i need/want. I also sometimes like that not everyone i run into has heard of it. The people in important positions that should know, know. But then it's cool to just talk with other friends and when they ask where do you go, you can just say, "Williams" and you get a normal response (where's that?). It's easier sometimes..... I don't htink i'd like saying "yale, princeton or Harvard" because then they automatically associate you with whatever stereotype they have of Ivy kids. Williams sort of gives you a fresh slate when you talk with peers. (although there are times when you want to say, WILLIAMS! The # 1 LAC!!) haha. oh well. I love it here. But i'm biased

you're not biased COols because i agree with you in every aspect. =]

ohh..wait perhaps i'm biased, too. nah, that's not possible for BOTH of us to be biased... or is that a possbility?

You and I .... of COURSE NOT!!! Kazumi, there is no we could possibly biased.... even though we're living 2 floors away from another and probably wearing something purple at this very moment. haha. peace yo

That is not what i meant, i meant that i dont understand why you seem so worried about getting into a relitivley easy college compared to the ivy leagues because you have a pretty amazing resume compared to everyone I know who got into Middlebury, Yale, Princeton, Harvard, and Williams

sorry to offent

SophieC:
Where are you finding all that room in your mouth for the feet you keep sticking in it?

and how am i doing that?

1) By calling Williams "a relitivley easy college."

well compared to many others it is a "relatively** easy college"

Williams is not "relatively" easy to get into compared to an Ivy. It is a much smaller school, for one thing, with fewer spots. Open mouth, change feet.

Forgive me for saying this, but the only schools I would consider overall more difficult to get into are HYPSM. Do you have another mouth?

well if you look at my above post you will see i said easy compared to the ivies... which it is so i dont know why you are all nagging. Unless you think Williams is harder to get into that princeton....??

for the record, from the USNews 2006 database ('04 data I believe),

Total Ivy applicants were:
136,511
Total Ivy Acceptances were:
22,141
....translating to an average Ivy acceptance rate of 16.2%, as compared to the same year's Williams acceptance rate of 19.2%.

So, strickly speaking, Williams is easier to get into relative to the Ivies, but IMHO not by much, especially considering only perhaps 10 schools (including the services academies) out of hundreds have a lower acceptance rate than Williams.
