Applying Political Science

P.S. Does my learning disability in math help my chances of admittance? It explains my low grades in math, which drag my GPA down.

you definitely have a shot. You’re probably a borderline applicant though so good luck! If you noted somewhere on your application that you have a learning disability maybe they’ll consider that? I’m not sure how that works.

my LD is not mentioned in my application itself, but it is noted in my letter of rec.

that should be fine then, hopefully they will read that!

Anymore insight? Anyone?

I’ll be a little more honest with you, it’s going to be tough. The average student accepted to Clemson is usually within the top 10% of their class. If you do have a learning disability, they will want to know that you are taking advantage of any services that your school provides, and by using those services, how you have improved.

I have a question too. My daughter has a 3.0 GPA but great SATS. 1420 CR+ M, 2090 total with three varsity letters and lots of music activities. Her chances?

It’ hard to tell. I had a 3.06 GPA in high school and actually was in the 48th percentile of my high school class. However I had a 35 on the ACT and my high school is one if not the best public school in the state of Masachusetts so that might have given me an advantage? So you’ve got a shot at admission but it’s hard to tell. It will probably depend on what major she’s applying for and the quality of applicants this year.
