Chances?

Even though I have a 1/25 rank (shared w/ one other person), 33 ACT Composite (1st and last try!), and near perfect UW GPA (school rounds it to 4.0), my ECs are somewhat scattershot but plentiful and my only really main "EC" or "hook" would be having a job for 9th-11th grades, during school and the summer. I assume I have fantastic recs from my science and math teachers, and my main essay is really good. Not sending any supp. materials, and I think if I wrote another essay it wouldn't be as good as my primary.

Do I stand a chance? Applying RD.

id reccomend another one, yale for example strongly reccommends doing another one. they might think you were too lazy to do it if you dont. you have time, make it a priority to have a supp essay.

I second that

i never knew long term jobs were hooks... yay, i also have a long term job!

i don't know...is it?

Not really

Think about what a 'hook' actually is for a minute. It's not a long term job.

Okay so I didn't save a child from cancer, I don't play major sports, and I'm not a racial minority. Does that mean nothing about me is attractive to an admissions committee? Do I need to pull the sexual minority card?

No

You don't need a hook to get into a top college. Dedication to a particular EC is sufficient
