Chances

My gpa and test scores are right outside of the middle 50%. I have a 3.7 unweighted, 4.2 weighted. My ACT is a 31. I swim competitively but I also am a member of BPA, NHS, Spanish club, trebuchet club, and another volunteer group. If I write very good essays, do I have a shot?

Recruited as a swimmer? GPA is OK, ACT weak for ND. Are you an officer in any of the groups, heavy volunteer work, other hook?

I’m not going to swim there, although I was co-captain on the swim team Jr. And will be sr. Year. I have been doing a lot of volunteer hours, especially recently because of NHS requirements(25 per semester). I also was one of the founders of the service organization for high schoolers on my swim team.

Only my opinion based on last year’s class: need to get to 33 on ACT and find some substantial volunteer work. Lots of applicants have hundreds of hours dedicated to things they believe in. Killer essays will do wonders. You need something that sets you apart.

Definitely get your scores up. A lot.
