hmm I'm not sure..depends how you do on subject tests, ap tests, etc...because your standardized test scores....aren't excellent no offence, if you get those up then you will have a better shot

are subject tests required?

no, but if you did well on them then it would certainly make your application look better.

apply ed 2 if you can

its a stretch...your stats are on the very low end, but if everything else is AMAZING you may have a shot. if you really want to go to GW, apply ED II...because, frankly, you don't stand much of a chance in RD. good luck!

---your stats are on the very low end--what??
by no means are you stats on the low end you are actually dead on average when it comes GWU's act scores(princetonreview.com)(NY will hurt you though because it seems like DC area schools' students bodies are an extension of SUNY schools(exaggeration) in geo. distribution.- hence its gunna be a tad more competitive for you than someone from WV)
-GWU is a really weird school when it comes to statiscal evaluation (55th in the nation with acceptance rate of 33%(JHU at 13th in the nation has a 35% acceptance rate)-i really don't understand their admissions at all
-even though your scores are average(meaning if youre admitted 49% of the students will get in with scores lower than yours) you still should look for an area to make yourself stand out (i wouldn't do the sat subjects unless your planning on doing them already)-this is where the subjectives kick in
-sry about the other cc evaluations---anything-gasp! below a 30 (act)on this site seems to be taboo and no one posts chances threads if have they below a 1350/30 , which gasp! seems unlikely or ridiculous one-- thanks for the non-elistist thread and I think GWU is very realistic for you.

Princeton review is way off! The average ACT for last year was 30 and the average SAT was 1330 (direct from an admissions officer).

Admissions officers frequently provide stats of accepted students as opposed to students who actually enroll. Princeton Review and US News report actual numbers of students who matriculate from the school's common data.

Although US News and Princeton Review's data may be for the Class of 2008, it is accurate.

American and GWU are known to publish the stats of accepted students, many of whom choose other schools.

alright, this needs to be settled.

firstly, according to collegeboard.com and the GWU viewbook the admit rate for the freshman class was 38% for the c/o 2008 and 37% for the class of 2009. armcp, I have no idea how you got the 33% figure.

secondly, again from the viewbook, the inner-quartile range of GWU's freshman class (c/o 2009) SAT scores is 1270-1410. both the collegeboard and the princeton review do list different SAT score ranges(of entering classes in the past), and, although these sites are excellent sources of information, the sheer massive quantity of updates they must perform to ensure accuracy decreases their veracity.

whatever the case may be, best of luck in the admissions process.

Those Princeton Review numbers are way out of date. The SAT mid-range for freshmen admitted in Fall 2005 was 1260-1410, so at 1210 dmonnat29 is below the averages. GW is a school that is changing rapidly. It's statistics improve every year. It is very selective at 38% admit rate because it has a large pool of people eager to attend, so it can turn many people away. JHU obviously is not as desirable although it has a higher U.S. News rating. Those ratings must be taken with a grain of salt. My daughter has the stats to attend JHU but never considered applying due to quality of life issues.

Dmonnat29, I would strongly recommend EDII if you are very interested in GW.
