Do I have a reasonable shot?

Yes, I think you'll be accepted -- especially if you indicate a strong interest. Is Grinnell your first choice?

Thanks. It's not my first choice, but I won't be accepted into my first choice, and Grinnell is very high on my list after that.

You have a good shot. I'm assuming your class rank is in the top ten percent or so.

Geez, if you don't get in, I certainly won't.

In all seriousness, though, I don't see why you wouldn't get in. I think the acceptance rate is something like 67%, plus you're a legacy. And you sound like you're basically a genius. So don't worry too much.

necoon, acceptance rate was under 40% last year.

Even so, I think the OP has a very good chance.

Oops. I read in the Fiske Guide 2006 that acceptance was 67%, 79% for ED. Guess I had it wrong.

But I agree, even with an under-40% admit rate, allreaches sounds really strong.
